Before the Fall Hardcover – 31 May 2016

I am a great fan of Noah Hawley. His, THE GOOD FATHER was absolutely superlative. THE PUNCH also packed a good amount of punch! I was highly anticipating BEFORE THE FALL, but it was disappointing. I gave it three stars as I have still not given up on Mr. Hawley. The story starts promisingly on a good thrilling note. We already know that a plane is going to crash and Scott is going to emerge as a hero and a survivor. How he gets to do this is written tautly. Then the question of sabotage or accident arises. Back stories of characters fail to connect and this is where the book fails to take off. Scott became an irritating character for me and many a times I was tempted to give up.

I got to know about this book from goodreads, this being one of the top book in last year. The starting of the book provided justice to the title given by the book review site. But, as I saw in some of the comments, the ending didn't do any justice to the book. The climax was too lame and almost predictable. It was as if the writer wanted to finish the book in such a hurry.

It was engaging and many quotable lines which ring so true. Some parts are staggeringly beautiful, especially the description of paintings - for the first time it felt like that reading about paintings is a more intense experience than looking at them!

The book engrosses you in some of the descriptions it gives but overall it's average...i liked the part about Gil and his character description . Overall, the novel is nothing very great.

Build up was awesome. Ending was not. Didn't think it would end with a tantrum. But lots of positive throughout.

This book is for those who expect moderate suspense, less thrill or none of these.

A gripping novel, well written which keeps you engaged till the end. The characters are nicely etched and the plot is taut. Recommended reading..
