Master work by Walter Isaacson...Must have book in your personal collection
This is fantastic book written by Isaacson on Da Vinci. Very inspiring if you are interested in life long learning, curiosity, innovation. Not only this book gives an entertaining account of Da Vinci's life bit also sheds light on his work ethics, methods used by him while learning many things. He was true polymath in renaissance era. He had genius level mastery in engineering, arts and literature. He left thousands of pages of his notebooks that he used to always used to carry with him and copiously write into. And he has written extensively on his interests and his methods as he was big fan of daily To Do lists. The book also gives account of his personal life. The real beauty of this book is all those color photographs of various renaissance era art like paintings and statues. The author also 'explains' these art works done by da Vinci and other contemporary artists. Isaacson also gives us context and background for each art work and tells us subtle nuances that differentiates that art work. Consider it as a quick and easy art appreciation course. The book is hard cover and printed on thick, good quality paper. In one of his interview the author tells us why he insisted on high quality printing. He said while writing book on Jobs they could not find many of his past emails written in 1990s. On the other hand Da Vinci has left some much of his writing behind and that is accessible even after 500 years because it is on the paper. He says he became believer in old technology like paper. I suggest the same to you. Do not buy kindle version. Buy paper copy for your collection. You will enjoy it more.Anyway all these these color pictures on nice thick paper and their explanation by the author takes this book to different league altogether. This alone will ensure a permanent place for this book in your personal library.I can strongly recommend this book to the students, artists, entrepreneurs, researchers, scientists and life long learners. They will get a lot out of this brilliant book. Parents should encourage their college going kids to read this book.

Isaacson brings the Genius home
Walter Isaacson's bio sketch of Leonardo Da Vinci helps us get a wider perspective of the work and mind of the man whom we have all heard about. Deeply researched, Isaacson brings alive a man whose talent we have only gazed at in wonder. Leonardo's follies, his struggles, his yearning to get into the good books of his patrons shows the human side of him. We are now closer to the Mona Lisa and Salvatore Mundi Man. Precise, full of empathy, with a piercing look at an age which can only imagine about, is Isaacson's achievement. To switch so effortlessly from writing the bio of a futuristic man (Jobs) to that of a man who lived so much in the past, is an awesome achievement.

An Inspiring Biography!
Walter Isaacson has written once again an inspiring biography. Like all his other biographies, this one too is a well-researched book. We would have remained ignorant about the intelligent mind behind such great inventors, artists, scholars and political leaders if an author like Walter Isaacson had not worked hard to unravel the mysteries surrounding such iconic figures whose contribution to mankind will remain uncontested. Every word about Leonardo Da Vinci has left an indelible impression on my mind.
