These are a cross between soft pastels and nupastels. They are very smooth to work with and has almost no chalk dust. Colors bright and beautiful. I have two different boxes of Senneliers soft chalk pastels, 120 in each box, very dusty, but very beautiful, I also have a box of 96 Prismacolor Nupastels that are a harder and firmer packed chalk pastel. These are my new favorites. They move wherever you want them to. Your hand doesn't get nearly as messy because you have paper around the chalk.
