Best Ice Cream Ever!!!
I have been wanting to get an ice cream maker because all of the ice cream these days has a ton of trash ingredients, so much so that some of them can't be listed as ice cream anymore. With that being said depending on what flavor you want this machine can make it with only a few ingredients and it does an awesome job. My wife made vanilla soft serve using the GreenPan recipe with regular sugar and vanilla with the coconut sugar and the coconut sugar by far gives the ice cream that over the top flavor because it neutralizes the vanilla extract. Both batches were quick and the texture was great. The machine is built sturdy and the GreenPan brand is very good. We own a set of the pots so I have been watching this machine waiting for a sale as it is a bit pricey. The machine keeps the temperature perfect and even after putting it in the freezer it still has a great texture. Honestly can't wait to break out the new juicer so we can try the natural flavored sherbet. The kids love the ice cream and we love the option of using all natural ingredients.

I cracked 2 bowls in 4 weeks. Defective product. See other similar reviews.
I can show you more photos of the two cracked bowls. I had to take them in order to get them replaced. After the 2nd one I was offered yet another bowl, but they are out so it was going to be 2 months waiting. I can tell you why they are out, because they break. My first broke in the 2nd week of use, the second broke after 2 uses. I see there are others with the same issue, not sure how anyone doesn't have this issue, unless the seal portion on some units pulls tighter. I heard mine crack when I put it on. With all my going back and forth with GreenPan on the warranty and replacements I missed the return window. The vendor and Amazon understood that I tried to get this fixed and refunded me my money. BUT, here is my issue, this would be an amazing product, the ice cream, the slushies, the lemonade slushies, margaritas were great. There was no competitor (until 2 weeks ago) that had a compressor and could do all these types of items. Seriously, I and my AI friends searched and searched, until just last week a competitor emerged with a very similar product, which we ordered. Last notes on this, the bowl has a double wall, and water gets in that wall during use and washing, there is only a door at the bottom to let water out, so the inside gets wet and cloudy and starts to look bad. No way to clean it. Until this bowl is fixed, I recommend you not buy this. FYI, I have done 3000+ reviews and only a few times have I said, do not buy. Hopefully they get a new bowl, this could be a great product.

Great product!
Easy to use, recipes come out great! It is a little tedious to clean, but there is a clean mode that does most of the work. Other machines are really just expensive blenders and require a lot of prep work. This machine doesn’t! No pre-freezing attachments or ingredients. Just mix the recipe and pour it in. I feel like this was a great buy!

great ice cream in 15 minutes
Ever sitting at home craving ice cream and not wanting to leave the house. Better yet, you can make it faster and be eating it sooner than going out to get it! This machine is very simple to set up, directions are very good. We have made home made soft serve as well as frozen yogurt and it came out delicious. The serving size is very good, I over eat but I would say makes enough for a family of 4 in 1 batch, maybe 6 if your eating proper portions. Machine is very quiet when running, but I would use the maximum setting, otherwise it comes out a little too soft. Clean up is very simple and you can start the next batch in 10 minutes. Can't wait to make some frozen drinks with this. The mixing bowl is made of plastic, probably to keep the weight of the machine not so heavy. Over all this is exactly as described and I can now eat soft serve ice cream without ever leaving the house!

Amazing ice cream!
Saw this ice cream maker on a PBS sponsorship promo. So, I was inclined to like it, but I'm IMPRESSED! Malted milk shakes at home. I know my ingredients, mix/match my recipes and can have it lickety-split. Tastes amazing, froze quickly, milkshake texture, not loud. Whatever team designed this should be designing cars, buildings, electronics and anything else the public needs to be functional, have ease-of-use, explicit instructions and a large dose of common sense!

Temperature on the Freeze?
So far we have only used the ice cream setting, however, we have much to say about that. We LOVE the convenience (no need to pre-freeze 24 hrs in advance), the easy cleanup, (literally just need to wipe down the inside of the machine as needed and clean the container), and the taste of the results! But…the functionality and resulting texture leaves A LOT to be desired. I would even say the value for the money would be decent if only the texture would come out right. We have made “ice cream” three times. The first time I added only milk and it came out as a mid tasting ice milk that was soft in the middle and frozen on the edges closest to the container. The 2nd time I added 1 spoonful of cream and it froze in a block of slushy ice. We had to dig the stirrer out. Last night we tried a third time and I added two tbsp of cream. This time the center remained completely liquid. The outer section froze the stirrer in a block of ice milk so badly that it stopped stirring and all the cane sugar was at the bottom of the container. I would think that maybe we are doing something wrong, but there are no instructions or recipes included to help get the measurements correct… and at this point I’m unsure if the issue is incorrect measurements or if something is off with the temperature of the machine. Because it freezes so badly we have even decided to not put the stirrer in next time. This way we figured it would be easier to dig out the block of “ice milk cream.” The next time we make it, I will try to remember to take pictures of each step so I can update this post with them.

This is the one
Purchased this product; and also the Ninja Swirl thinking I would do a comparison myself on how close to good soft serve each machine could produce. Caught both on special so the price of each was almost identical. Also bought some Dole Orange Soft Serve Mix (here on Amazon) to try out the machines. Used a Dole recipe I found online (started with 1 cup of Dole mix) and instead of the 3 cups of water in this recipe, I used 2 cups water and 1 cup whole milk. Mixed it in a large measuring cup with a whisk. Into the Greenpan the mix went; and started the machine on the default L4 setting for soft serve. (UPDATE: Later batches I used 1 cup heavy cream instead of the 1 cup whole milk to make it creamier; and set the machine to L5) All I can say is WOW....it was perfect. Dispensed into pre-chilled bowls and what a treat it was. The quantity of mix using the 1-cup Dole recipe was too much for two people (we ate it until we couldn't any more lol). Leftovers went into a pre-chilled glass container with an airtight cover and into the freezer. Next day I had orange sorbet....yum. Next was vanilla soft serve...2 cups whole milk, 3/4 cup heavy cream, 1/2 cup sugar, 2 tbsp instant vanilla pudding mix powder, and 2 tsp vanilla extract. Tasty! I did bump up the cold setting to L5 to get it a little more firm. And might use slightly less vanilla extract next time. Experimentation is part of the fun. While some recipes include adding salt, I don't add salt to any of the mixes I've made. Turns out I never opened the Ninja Swirl box...it went back to the store. The Greenpan was that good. Who wants to wait 24 hours to satisfy a frozen treat craving? And what do I do with the store-bought ice cream I had in the freezer? Decisions, decisions. VERY IMPORTANT - Since this unit has an internal compressor, upon initial delivery; or if the unit has been placed on its side for any period of time, it must be allowed to sit upright for AT LEAST 2 hours (the longer the better) before turning on, to allow the compressor oil to flow back down into the bottom of the compressor. If not done, the compressor can be damaged and will significantly shorten its life. Also, I would recommend to not lift the machine by grabbing the plastic mixing chamber or the handle - it will put pressure on the slots that hold the mixing chamber onto the machine and might break them, causing a leak. So far I've made two batches of Dole mix (pineapple and orange), two batches of vanilla soft serve and one chocolate soft serve in the span of about 10 days. I'm gonna get fat lol........

Worked great for 6 uses—then the plastic literally crumbled. Completely unusable now.
I almost never leave product reviews. For me to actually sit down and write one, something has to be so bad that I feel completely ripped off and cheated out of my money. That is exactly why I am writing this. To be fair, for the short period I was able to use it, it actually did what it was supposed to do. I used it maybe six or seven times, and it made great slushies, soft serve ice cream, and milkshakes. I had zero complaints about the performance initially. The problem is the absolute garbage quality of the plastic used on the top assembly/chute and latching mechanism. I bought tens of thousands of dollars worth of kitchen appliances and household machines over the last few years, so I know what decent build quality looks like. The plastic on this machine is so cheap and brittle that it literally crumbles. First, one of the closing latch mechanisms crumbled and broke off. Then another one followed right after. Because the housing/latch system failed, the unit can no longer seal. It is now completely unusable, doesn't make slushies, and just leaks liquid all over the place. Save your money. A machine at this price point shouldn't fall apart and become trash after half a dozen uses. Let me know if you want to add or tweak anything before posting!
