A blast from the past
My husband always wanted one of these because his parents used to have one, that was about 40 years ago! When I found this one, I just had to buy it for him. I think the price was a little high for what it is, but it does work, and he's happy with it. He uses it to make martinis...he just crushes a couple of ice cubes at a time and it saves a lot of time. Easy to use once you get the two sides hinged together. It's a cool kitchen item and people always ask about it when we pull it out.

It’s fine for most cold drinks and cocktails (but of course
I’ve discovered that ice crushers vary tremendously in their output. While some produce finely shaved ice that can be used for a sno-cone, this crushes an ice cube into several pieces (the size of peanuts- walnuts). It’s fine for most cold drinks and cocktails (but of course, not for a frozen daiquiri, which must be blended). The key here is that it’s small, manual, fits in a drawer, and it easily cleaned and stored. I’m lazy, and I think twice before taking a large electric ice crusher out of my cabinet just for 1-2 drinks. But this device is so easy to use that I don’t think twice about it. And with the “leverage” principle, it’s actually easy to crush the ice cube - so grip strength is not an issue. Bottom line - this makes “crumbled” ice, but not “crushed” ice or “snow” - but it’s fine to use to prepare a few quick chilled drinks.

Crushed Ice without a hammer
Takes a lot of hand strength but it makes nicely crushed Ice. I feed it two of the refrigerator's, half-moon, ice cubes at a time. It takes a total of four to six cubes for a mixed drink. I wish the two halves of the crusher were permanently attached to each other, but it works as designed.

Fun to Use!
O.K., it's a little odd looking, and you only can crush 2 crescent cubes at a time, but it is so much fun to use! Put the cubes in, press the handles together, it goes CRUNCH, and you have crushed ice. You get an irregular crush, but none of the pieces are too large. It does work better if it's slightly wet. It really doesn't take that much hand strength to use - I'm a small woman and it works fine for me. The only downside is that the two pieces of the crusher just hook together at the top and come apart really easily if you're not paying attention.

Grey paint/coating flakes off
Works really well for what’s it’s designed to do, but the grey paint or coating soon starts flaking off and contaminates the ice, found out when I started picking pieces of it out of my teeth.... It it was stainless steel there would be no need for a coating or paint. Can’t believe this is the only version of this tool available

Excellent addition to the kitchen
I inherited one of these and was dismayed when it broke (it was at least 40 years old...). This is well made and a simple energy efficient way to crush ice for a cocktail.

What it says on the tin, but not for me
This is sturdy, well made and does exactly what it says, but unfortunately calls for more hand strength than I have. Perhaps if the handles were longer there would be more leverage to exert more force, but as it is I ended up needing to apply the bit of cracked ice I managed to my poor weak hand. And since this cracks only one cube at a time, it's just not feasible for me. Other people very likely will have no issues. For me, I'd do much better to wrap several cubes in a tea towel and having a go with a meat tenderizer.

Just what I need to crush ice
I am limited on the amount of liquid I should drink each day. I have found that sucking crushed ice, as needed, will help my thirst. This ice crusher is the best one I have found. It is easy to use and makes the perfect size pieces. I am 81 years old and am able to use it with no strength issues. The crusher is sturdy and durable. Thank you for a good product.

Simple is best.
Perfect for making smaller amounts. You'd have to be pretty weak not to be able to use it - even if you were struggling I would have thought you could place it on a worktop then lean down on it? Much better results than my food processor, which just seems to produce slush puppies, and no slower than using the crank handle types - the spindles of which go rusty after a couple of years. Nothing to go rusty here.
