Alpen is our everyday breakfast during the week. I mix it with fresh berries and fruit of the season, little milk on top of it and voila - healthy, tasty, and fast to prepare! We never grow tired of it. You don't feel hungry after 1 hour like you do when you eat one of those airy and sugar loaded cereals even if claimed to be whole wheat. Best and healthiest cereal choice on the market in my opinion. Pricey, but well worth it. Note after I've read some of the other reviews: I never tried UK Alpen and no, it might not taste like European muesli. It would taste too bland for me if I didn't add fresh fruit - strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, bananas, peaches, you name it. But it's perfect with fruit and I still think it's the best choice on the US market. It's sold nowhere in the store where I live, so I've had to try a variety of other so called healthy and whole wheat cereals when I happened to run out of it.

Very good. I am not a cereal person, but this tastes like the one I loved as a teenager. Good price here

But not great. Better to use to mix with other cereals. Otherwise it’s like a bowl of wood chips in both flavor and texture.

we purchase this cereal every couple of months. noticed that the price was about 20% less than others listed for the same thing. so, i bought it. showed up with 'best before November 28, 2024 date.' I didn't notice the fine print before ordering. Probably doesn't matter. Just something to look for next time.

I just ordered this two days ago and thanks to Amazon Prime it arrived yesterday. Unfortunately, I am now stuck with 5.75 boxes of horse feed. Did you wonder why Amazon was selling this amazing cereal so cheaply? Well, for Brits or expats, it'll be obvious when you try a bowl of it. This is Canadian Alpen. It is nothing like the Alpen enjoyed by Europeans. It consists of flakes and raisins, with some sliced almonds. That's it. Worse, there is also next to no flavor. None of the delicious, creamy, malty flavor that the original Alpen gives you. I am so disappointed. In short, if your Alpen's ingredients list doesn't look like this, don't buy: Wholegrain Wheat (37%), Wholegrain Rolled Oats (35%), Raisins (12%), Sugar, Skimmed Milk Powder, Milk Whey Powder, Roasted Sliced Nuts (2.5%) (Hazelnuts & Almonds), Malted Barley Extract, Salt. This is the genuine, British Alpen's ingredients list. It also says "The Original Swiss Recipe" on the front of the box, instead of Canada's flat "Original" statement. The Canadian Alpen manufacturers need to re-purpose their facility into making horse feed....this stuff has no flavor. Like - literally none. I had to add sugar to it just to get through a bowl. I'm now going to go and find out if Amazon will take this crap back.

To my disadvantage I chose to ignore other reviews having been a consumer of this product since then 1980s. Let me be clear, I tried the latest recipe and then threw away all of the five remaining boxes. Whatever has been changed is definitely not for the better. What was one of the best breakfast cereals ever produced is only suitable for the recycling bin. A waste of money and a tremendous loss and disappointment
