From Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures comes "Man of Steel," starring Henry Cavill ("Immortals," TV's "The Tudors") in the role of Clark Kent/Superman under the direction of Zack Snyder ("300," "Watchmen"). A young boy learns that he has extraordinary powers and is not of this Earth. As a young man, he journeys to discover where he came from and what he was sent here to do. But the hero in him must emerge if he is to save the world from annihilation and become the symbol of hope for all mankind.

Love this take on Superman
Far different than Christopher Reeves version, this is a more realistic take on the character. The sound track by Zimmer is amazing & suits the tone of the movie.Would definitely recommend watching it.

This Superman movie is probably the best version till date comapred to 2006 version "superman returns"..Man of steel is a total remake of the original superman. It shows youth days of superman and his adulthood and discovering his powers. I had seen this movie in theatre last year and something about it made me want to see again.Man of steel strength are its good casting and editing. I as a boy personally like Henry cavil a very handsome and very well scuplted man playing calm and serene superman.Henry cavill has really good chest hair to counter those actors who dont have.it shows masculanity. he really plays superman is a good way. the other cast are russel crowe, kevin costner, diane, lane, etc were amazing. supermans lover girlffriend journalist also managed to create some romantic mood. The fight scenes were good with a lot of cgi.I think this is a good supermanmodern movie for fans and if your a Henry cavil fan then you should.lots of good extrafeatures and fitness routines of the stars.Excellent cinematography-9/10music/sound-9/10Actors-9/10extra features-10/10bluray quality-10/10

Fantastic Set and a Brilliant Package
I got this 'Man of Steel' 2 Disc 3D Special Edition set before the stipulated time and it really is a fantastic addition to my Blu Ray collection. Of course I loved the movie and that's why I ordered this but while the Video quality is great as expected, what takes the cake is the stunning packaging. The Superman 'S' shaped box is just beautifully crafted and comes with a back stand, so not only does it serve its basic purpose which is to store the Discs but can also be used as an ornamental or decorative item to place on a shelf or a side table. Along with the box, you also get an abridged version of the Man of Steel book containing concept art and images from the movie. So, all in all this is an excellent Movie set which not only gives you the chance to watch Superman in 3d High Definition but also serves a multiple purpose as a terrific Superman memento. A real value for money product at a very decent price.

Worth buying only for collector's edition tin
This edition contains nice collector's edition metal box which doubles up as cool show piece. The movie itself is good, it initially may feel dissapointing, but it grows on you after repeat viewings. The 3d version of the movie is not so good. It was post-converted to 3d, so it results in jarring motions in the battle scenes filled with vfx. The 2d version is looks great and the 7.1 DTS-HD MA soundtrack is supurb. There are very few bonus features on the 2d disc. The set released in India is missing the extra bonus disc available in the US version which contains the Maximum Movie Mode type video commentary and a faux-documentary.And also worth noting is that it does not include the "Art of Man of Steel" book which used to come with this box earlier and is mentioned in one of the reviews. I tried to contact amazon a few times but they refused to reply on why the book no longer comes with the pack. It was a bit disappointing. This is worth buying only for the metal case. If you have no interest in that, its better to stick to the 2d only version, as the 3d is not impressive.

Forget the Critics - The Man of Steel Is a Must See!...But You May Want to Skip the Collector's Edition :(
**This review covers both the movie and the actual Man of Steel Collector's Edition Bluray Combo Pack. If you are only interested in my review of the actual Man of Steel Collector's Edition Combo Pack and not the movie itself, you can skip to the bottom.**Personally, I can't stand critics. Screw 'em! If you are a fan of movies, you owe it to yourself to see Man of Steel!Granted I am a huge fan of Superman, but Man of Steel may very well be the best movie I have ever seen! Considering movies like Nolan's "The Dark Knight", Peter Jackson's third installment in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, "Return of the King" and Whedon's "The Avengers" top that list, that's saying a ton! As you can likely tell, I'm an enormous fan of the action/sci-fi/fantasy genre, so your mileage may vary (meaning if those movies don't strike your fancy, you may want to look elsewhere). What Zack Snyder has done with this film is "genius"! This is such a grand movie, yet nothing feels forced or exaggerated. Everything is given to you in exactly the right dosage. You aren't force-fed action like in other summer blockbusters. In Man of Steel, the action feels natural as if it is part of a story being told. Imagine that! The origin story is there, but it isn't too much that it bores you to tears and Snyder goes about it all in precisely the right manner - through flashbacks. This way, you get the gist of how Clark came to be the man he is, without the movie needing to be longer than it has to.All the actors/actresses do a fantastic job in their particular roles and help the movie to do what it is supposed to do: tell a story. While I'm still adjusting to a fair-haired Amy Adams in the role of Lois Lane, I can say that I left the theater content with her performance. She really grew on me by the time it was all said and done. However, both Michael Shannon as Zod and Russell Crowe as Jor-El were very much spot on for me. I was extremely happy with both performances in their respective roles.Growing up as a huge Smallville fan, I was convinced that nobody could do the role of Clark justice after Tom Welling. While Brandon Routh fit the role physically in Superman Returns, he was just too stiff and too much of a Christopher Reeves knockoff to leave me satisfied. I'm not saying Reeves was bad in the role (quite the contrary), I just would have preferred it if Routh had brought something he could call his own to the role. That's where Henry Cavill comes in! The best way I can put his performance is this - he owned the role! You know how it goes. Often times you've seen an actor or actress cast in an iconic role, only to be dissatisfied with the choice after seeing the movie (or perhaps before and after). With Henry Cavill, I can say this, "Henry Cavill is Superman!"The whole time while watching the Man of Steel, I felt as if Cavill was truly an outsider from another planet. And, I mean that in the highest regard! Movies are often about the suspension of disbelief and we as moviegoers sometimes need a little push in the right direction. Cavill's performance did that for me. The fact that the guy looks like he trained day and night nonstop, tells you all you need to know about his dedication to the role. Kudos Henry! The special effects didn't hurt either. As far as cutting-edge special effects go, this movie has it in spades! By far the best special effects I've seen in any movie to date...hands down! Better than Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean, Matrix, Avatar or any of the Marvel movies, including The Avengers! Words cannot describe them, particularly the Metropolis battle scene! Truly epic!Speaking of battles, the fight between Supes and two notorious Kryptonians (formerly seen in another of the Big Blue Boyscout's movies) was in essence, borderline orgasmic! That battle seen alone was worth the price of the movie's admission!...And Man of Steel still had plenty left in reserve.Let's face it; we don't go to movies about comic book heroes to be bored to death by dialogue. We want action and suspense to go along with a good, relatively fast-paced story. In Man of Steel you get that!It currently is and will be by summer's end, the biggest and best movie you will see this summer. Mark my words!Do yourself a favor and don't walk, run faster than a speeding bullet to see this movie! I promise you, you will not leave disappointed! If you do, then you're either dead or worse, a critic! "Gasp!"---As for the actual product itself, the Man of Steel Collector's Edition Combo Pack: I'm going to keep this short and sweet! Unless you are a diehard Superman fan and look to collect all things Superman, do yourself a favor and save your money. This product though somewhat (albeit barely) cool, isn't nearly as wonderful as I had hoped. :(Yes, it has all the film related media including both 3D and 2D versions of the film; however, the metal "S" glyph is actually a tin container identical to those that used to carry your lunch around as a kid and nothing more. I was expecting something a bit more "solid" and not a "lunch box" made to hold the movie discs, etc.Had this not been The Man of Steel or had I not been a huge Superman fan, and had I not purchased this product at its cheapest price point offered here on Amazon (which just so happened to be less than $10 over the cost of the regular combo pack), I would be promptly sending this item back for a refund. There's a snowball's chance in Hell that I'd pay anything above $40 for this and certainly not the $50 plus asking price Amazon originally had this listed for.So in summary, keep in mind when purchasing this product that it's nothing more than a "S"-shaped lunch box containing the Bluray materials inside that sit atop a plastic stand. It is NOT as nice as one might expect by looking at the picture alone, that's advertised here. However, once again, the movie itself is fantastic and highly recommended, but you are probably better off saving your money and simply purchasing the regular Man of Steel Combo Pack.

Cant see how anybody rates this lower than 4 star
See this film in the cinema and well it's just awesome it has masses of depth to it amazing visuals and the fight scenes between superman and his rivals are just epic giving the grand scale of how powerless humans are in comparison. If you felt let down with the other franchise aka superman returns and quest for peace this film makes up for it.Don't care about the 3D as it's something that only games should be connected to the film itself is epic that's why I bought it on blu ray. However that being said I took it to my mate's house to watch on his huge 3d screen and was impressed but another mate of mine said his was poor, this could be due to quality of them as one is worth £2000 the other £1000 plus they operate at completely different power outages that give off different frame rates and resolution.I'm not bothered about extras as I'm from the age of vhs so I was brought up with just the film high definition is the best thing about films in this day and age so I'm happy with the film being as clear as possible :).Back to the film as I said about depth you get to see krypton from another point of view and this time it looks like a whole planet rather than a crystal city in the middle of a planet. Has more of a believable take which was helped brought to life with the aid of.....OMG its Russell Crow. The story has to follow the same path way as the comic as it does giving great potential for a different perspective from the directors take on the story.Things that are different in this story are costumes they just look alien and better on so many levels. Many people have said the story between Louis lane and superman was not as good but if they make a sequel I can see this progressing. How his father Jonathan Kent dies and his father Jor-El die gives that little twist of how they die protecting a person who they love in different but the same way.Human reactions towards superman are more realistic as humans by nature always fear what can't be explained or controlled. Unlike the original films where disaster happens and superman turns up to save the day and gets praised this is more about self-preservation in how revealing himself to a world that wouldn't be ready to accept him could go wrong. So the traits of batman, the amazing Spiderman and iron man on the law and government's reaction to a crime fighter or vigilantly apply but with fear as they could all be hunted down and killed if it came to it superman well let's face it he's most peoples favourite for the reason that he can't be harmed.Right I have said all good points so guess I will add some things that bug me as it's only fair because no film is perfect will list them as points to take notes of if you watch:).*How does superman have a tailored suit for him when he's a man when he left krypton 100s of years before?*When superman takes on other krypton folk surely they would hurt him better yet surely his suit would get torn to shreds.*Superman was born and raised on a farm and takes on a small squad of highly trained warriors and punches his way through them as they do with him erm really?*The materials used on the alien ships would have radioactive properties on them from krypton's minerals and would cause superman to get funky on them or just going near them as he has never been near it since a baby.*When superman sets off a beacon how do the krypton warriors get to earth that fast when it took superman well let's say a pretty long time at the least.*The general is all about preserving the life of krypton but superman was the first born child so surely he wouldn't want to harm him.*WHY GO SAVE THE DOG INFACT WHY DIDN'T CLARK GO SAVE THE DOG!!!!*Punching holes in the alien ships shouldn't be as easy as they are carbon materials from the planet Krypton and the sun would or could react in the same way changing the molecular density.*Superman learns how to fly too fast.*And oh yeah how to stop an alien invasion sneeze on them then role the credits.Ok hope that helps like I said I loved the film but instead of praising it saying it the best film ever would be a lie. But it certainly entertained me and say bring on the next one. Thank you for reading :)

The perfect Superman
I’m not one to watch superhero movies but this is an exception. The carnage in the third act is outstanding. If you are like me and cannot get into the marvel universe then give this movie a look in. As a stand alone story it is solid entertainment

A fantastic super-hero film.
This is a thoroughly enjoyable super-hero film.I originally watched it at the cinema (in 3D), and subsequently on Blu-ray (both 2D and 3D). The Blu-ray quality is fantastic (excellent audio and picture). While the 3D version is fun, it doesn't add a great deal. So when I choose to re-watch this film, I opt for the 2D version. This is a re-boot of the Superman franchise, following the less than financially successful 'Superman Returns' (2006) film. While I enjoyed the 2006 film, which sought in various ways to fit-in with the Christopher Reeve's film-series, I thought that this 2013 movie was superior. This film seeks to tell the story of Superman's origins ... starting with the destruction of the planet Krypton, the orphaned baby Kal-El arriving on Earth and being raised by the Kent's in Smallville, and Clark Kent's transformation into the Man of Steel. All of this has been done before - both in film and in TV series. So it's difficult to add something fresh and imaginative. Yet the film succeeds in this regard. Rather than draw on the earlier movies (or the TV series), this film is inspired by the wealth of comic books that comprise the 70+ year history of Superman. The 'origin story' has been depicted several times in the comic books, and this film borrows from many of these. In addition, it offers new elements - especially in terms of the 'look' of Krypton, of the various space ships, etc.The story focuses on Clark Kent, and how he's forced to become a super-hero. While he's been a 'good guy' (saving people), he's never adopted a public persona as a known hero. That is, until General Zod (and a gang of criminals previously imprisoned in the Phantom Zone by Krypton's judicial system) arrives at planet Earth and demands to see Kal-El. The General is a nasty piece of work (just as he was in 'Superman 2'), and decides to re-design the Earth into a new Krypton! And so Clark must save the world ... he becomes Superman, and battles the villainous Kryptonian criminals. There's mayhem and destruction ... but just enough opportunity for Superman to gain a love interest, in reporter Lois Lane. The great city of Metropolis is ruined, and - finally - it's a battle to the death between Superman and Zod. This all happens as the world watches in awe and fright. Fortunately, Superman is victorious. This film serves as a starting point for the wider DC movie universe. The first cross-over film is 'Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice' (2016) ... which will, eventually, lead into the Justice League saga. This initial installment is a serious tale, offering a complex Man of Steel. He struggles to accept his 'destiny' as Superman, although he knows it's the right thing to do. This is a super-hero who has such vast abilities - powers he himself is unaware of until he chooses to use them - that he's almost utterly separate and distinct from all other people. Yet he wants to live a normal life. He struggles with inner-demons, with the loss of his home world, and with the death of his adoptive father. But he succeeds in overcoming these, for the good of humankind. The movie is superbly directed by Zack Snyder. Yet it's not his best work (both '300' and 'Watchmen' are superior). I get the impression that he's not had complete freedom to direct, and was operating within parameters set by Nolan (producer; direct of the 'Dark Knight' trilogy). In my view, Snyder is a superior film-maker as compared to Nolan, and I wish the latter had not been involved. The acting is done well. I was particularly impressed by Henry Cavill, who not only looks the part (and is more in-keeping with the comic book depiction of Superman than any previous film incarnation), but he portrays the tragic aspects of the Man of Steel excellently. In addition to Cavill, I thought Amy Adams was perfect for the role of investigative reporter Lois Lane (brining both intelligence and beauty to the role). Finally, Zod was brilliantly played by Michael Shannon.I was also impressed by the music - overall, an excellent sound track. It sought to establish itself in a distinct manner, totally separate from the earlier films. In my view, this music elevated the film to a higher level than might otherwise have been the case. This is a movie I will re-watch every so often, as it's a good super-hero action film. Yet it's not perfect. I think that the Krypton scenes were rushed, and ought to have been extended. And I think Zod should have interacted more with the people of Earth, clearly establishing his dominance (and thereby creating more of a need for Superman). Nonetheless, it's a very good film. 8 out of 10.
