Easy to install and set up
Installed two of these wired smoke/CO detectors to replace old hardwired smoke alarms and added two additional wireless units along with several wireless smoke-only alarms. All quickly and easily interconnected during the setup process. Unlike some other commenters, there have been no false alarms. I got these for the 10 year sealed battery that is now required in my county and wanted the interconnect feature so all units will sound in the event of an alarm. The only negative is that the smoke-only units do not sound a CO alarm from an interconnected CO detector.

You don't like sleep
If you're in the market for a reliable smoke alarm, stay far, far away from Kidde. These alarms are an absolute nightmare, and I can't emphasize enough how much I regret purchasing them. Picture this: it's the middle of the night, you're sound asleep, and suddenly, the shrill, ear-piercing sound of your smoke alarm jolts you awake, heart pounding, in a blind panic. You rush out of bed, thinking there's a fire, only to find out that it's a false alarm—AGAIN. This isn't a one-time occurrence; it's a regular event with these Kidde alarms. These devices seem to be more interested in ruining your sleep than actually protecting your home. Imagine being dragged out of a deep sleep by a malfunctioning alarm at 3 a.m. for the third time in a month. It's maddening! And let's not even get started on the mental and emotional toll this takes. I have children in the house, and the last thing I need is them waking up terrified because the smoke alarm has decided to go off for no reason. When I reached out to Kidde's customer service, they were dismissive and offered no real solution. I was told to clean the alarm or replace the batteries, both of which I had already done multiple times. The alarms are less than a year old, and yet, they behave like relics that belong in the trash. If you value your sleep, your sanity, and your peace of mind, do yourself a favor and avoid Kidde smoke alarms at all costs. They might work as intended, but you’ll never know because you’ll be too busy silencing false alarms in the dead of night. An absolute waste of money and an even bigger source of frustration.Zero stars if I could.

Simple install, mix and match AC & Battery models in P4010* Range
The media could not be loaded. I was looking for something that would1) be able to interconnect to other modules,2) have both AC and Battery Models,3) have Combo Smoke/CO and Smoke only models in both power variants4) Interface to the SmartThings for my Alarm System and Smart Notification** A True 'Device to SmartThings' integration - NOT a Listener device that reacts when it 'hears' an audible alarm going offI could not find any other system that actually checks ALL those boxes. And for factor 4 taken by itself, there is only one other brand that achieves that, but does not meet the other requirements. However with this Kidde Series factors 1-3 are present out of the box and even the last part (SmartThings Integration) was actually easy to achieve with some extra parts. So I have Multiples of AC Combo, AC Smoke, DC Combo and DC Smoke - they all interconnect wirelessly and when one alerts they all go off.Now for the SmartThings part - I found a guide on SmartThings community on how to do that (search "Integrating Kidde Smoke/CO sensors into SmartThings") - the extra parts comprised a Kidde SM120X Relay, a Kidde CO120X Relay, a junction box and a pair of EcoLink Zwave Door/Window sensors - everything available right here on Amazon! I won't go into the details here, but it is a very simple install and you don't have to run any wires between modules - the only requirement is that you have at least ONE P4010AC* unit to connect the relay modules. The video shows the test function being activated on one Module and the Status showing on my SmartThings Screen (so from there I can receive notification to my Phone if I am not home, or have other Smart Actions, like turning on the lights etc in an event)The result is my home has gone from a mishmash of very much 'dumb' plain old AC Smoke units (about 30 yrs old!), some 9V Battery Smoke units (20 years old) and newer 10yr battery CO modules - NONE of which were interconnected, to a super-smart Interconnected system that very much meets todays standards.A very fun project to include the SmartThings Integration, however even without that, creating an interconnected Network of Detectors is very simple to achieve.Just to offer some clarification on some of the questions I see asked:The AC Modules (with battery backup) will NOT operate for 10 years without power being applied - estimated operation without AC is about a week I believe. (only intended to maintain operation for typical power outage situations) Get the DC modules if you can't provide AC Power - those WILL last 10 years (guaranteed to!)Interconnecting with other Kidde Alarms - ONLY the AC Modules can be connected by virtue of the hard-wire run to them - they cannot communicate wirelessly with other Modules that are not in P4010* Series. However the Battery Models will be part of the Network as long as there is an AC P4010* that has been physically connected to those non-P4010* series Models.Important to note that the Battery Models of the P4010DC* Series have no wired interconnect AT ALL and will ONLY interconnect to other P4010* Series (whether AC or DC)

Reliable and Convenient with Voice Alerts
I recently purchased the Kidde Wireless Hardwired Smoke Detector with 10-Year Battery Backup, Voice Alerts, and Photoelectric Sensor, and overall, it has been a reliable and convenient addition to my home safety setup. The 10-year battery backup feature provides peace of mind, ensuring continuous protection even during power outages. The photoelectric sensor offers reliable detection, promptly alerting me in case of any potential smoke or fire hazards. One standout feature is the voice alerts, which provide clear and informative notifications. This adds an extra layer of safety, allowing for quick action and evacuation if necessary. The voice alerts are particularly helpful in a large home or for those who may have difficulty hearing standard alarms.Installation was straightforward, thanks to the wireless connectivity and compatibility with existing hardwired systems. The included mounting hardware and clear instructions made the process hassle-free.However, I did encounter some minor issues with false alarms. Occasionally, the detector would trigger an alarm without any apparent smoke or fire. While this was concerning, it did not happen frequently enough to significantly impact my overall satisfaction with the product. In summary, the Kidde Wireless Hardwired Smoke Detector offers reliable detection, convenient voice alerts, and a long-lasting battery backup. Despite occasional false alarms, it remains an effective and valuable component of my home safety measures. I recommend it to those seeking a reliable smoke detector with added convenience features.

solid 2-in-1 with a 10 year battery backup
Good, hard-wired combination CO and smoke detector. Kidde's always pretty reliable, and installation was straight-forward (read the booklet). New wiring harness means if you're replacing an older version it'll be a 10 min install instead of 5, but it's still easy, and works well with existing systems. Didn't use the wireless linking, but that's an option if you don't have the third-wire linking all the detectors together.

Sketchy
Ordered 3 detectors as a replacement for 10 year anniversary of previous kiddy generation. Received and one box was already opened and missing activation key may or may not be working right ? I ordered new not 2/3 new. They fit with minor mod to connector by cutting off tab on old connector to fit bulky new detector in box.

This must be hard wired
I purchased this item as it was not clear when I ordered it that it required an electrician to hard wire connect it.Returning the item and I noticed I must pay for the return postage. Two big negatives! Not clear description and postage is on me to return
