Proverbs for Kids: A Family Devotional Guide

Excellent Page Turner. But I Must Warn You of One Thing....
A great book by a talented and creative writer! The one-page devotions are perfect for children and tweens who are interested, but have busy minds. My daughter and I bonded so much reading these proverbs together, and she always demanded we read a few more each night. One warning however, some of the verses address matters of adultery and sexuality. So read ahead a little as you might want to edit some wording if you read to your child. But, the author is simply addressing what the writer of Proverbs was addressing, and that is good as we need to train up our children in the way they should go.

Good lessons
The kids 5years to 12 years could use it themselves.

Perfect way to start the day with your children!
"The dual purpose of the book of proverbs is "to produce the skill of godly living by wisdom and instruction....and to develop discernment." As the writer of Proverbs explains, the purpose of the book is "to give prudence to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion" (proverbs 1:4). What a blessing for our kids! So much of the book of proverbs has to do with different types of people and situations and how to recognize them. In everyday language, proverbs describes those who are good and evil, righteous and unrighteous, wise and foolish. With any exposure to proverbs, your children will have God's wisdom concerning the kinds of friends to choose to be with and those they should avoid at all cost."This is from the book, "A mom after God's own heart" by Elizabeth George. After reading this, I bought this devotional to do with my three kids, ages 13, 11 and 7. We have several devotionals and this is our favorite just because it really hits on all points of a child's life!

A great buy and a great guide.
This is a great guide to teach children how to live the Christian life in obedience to Jesus. A few of the situations may be a little intense or not likely to occur for kids age 6. However, by giving examples that they understand or relating the book examples to everyday life through the eyes of a 6 years old really helps. I highly recommend this book for those who really DO NOT know where or how to begin devotion with their little ones. My six years old son reminds or calls me to do devotion because it's something he looks forward to every night. It's really great to see kids wanting to do something because they like it or because it's important to them instead of adults making/demanding that they do it because it's the right thing to do. It's definitely a great trade off instead of the fairy tales, folk tales or other make believe books at bed time.

A must have for Mom's busy mornings who still want kids to leave the home with God on their mind. :)
These are very well written. They are great for the kids morning devotional, before they get on the bus. A simple proverb, a story concerning the verse and a discussion. They offer good questions to get the kids thinking and then the kids tell me of how they see or implement different ethics/biblical principals discussed in the book. It only takes about 2 minutes/day to complete a devotional. The book also suggests bible verses for further reading, which is often turned into an entire bible study for a later time. I am so pleased with the construction of this book. Thanks for all the wonderful lessons!

Great Discussion Starter
We have enjoyed going through this devotional with our 8 & 11 year old this past school year and summer most mornings. It has been a wonderful opportunity to discuss pertinent issues they face every day in public school and out in the world. Some may find the topics a bit too "old" for this age child. We did not. We want to be the "loving authority" in our home that can talk about anything. We want the kids to come to us first and know that they will get a Biblical and truthful answer. This devotional was a great way to open up these discussions and the kids have loved doing it together.

Great and to the point!
I bought this for me and my 7 yr old daughter to do before school of a morning. It's perfect it's just the right amount of scripture and information to make her and I think and start our day! But what I like most is the story that ties it into real life!! And then the questions! My daughter will remind me sometimes if we forget to do our devotions.... So I would say she likes it too!

Beautiful, wise advice. Easy to understand.
I bought this book for my daughter and she loves it, and so do I. I highly recommend it! Every beautiful proverb comes with a nice story that makes the proverb clearer to children.Proverbs 19:18 says, "Correct your son while there is still hope. Do not help him destroy himself."Proverbs 6:20-22 says, "My son, keep you father's commands. Don't forget you mother's teaching. Remember their words forever. Let it be as if they were tied around your neck. They will guide you when you walk. They will guard you while you sleep. They will speak to you when you are awake."
