Can this be used to move a patient from sitting on a wheelchair to laying on a bed?

No. This is used much like a hard board stretcher but is flexible like a blanket. We use it as a portable stretcher for large (100 lbs plus) dogs who are incapable of walking.

Can this be used to move equipment that weights 70 lbs?

Yes, I would think so, just depending on the shape and size of the equipment. We use it to carry our 110 lb. dog up and down the stairs to the second floor and it works great.
