Excellent clay
I recently discovered a package of Van Aken clay that I bought 25 years ago and had put away and forgot. To my happy surprise, it was still in excellent condition. I bought a new package of the same clay and was happy to see that the quality was still great after all these years. The sculpture in the photos is a combination of both the old and new Van Aken clay. The Sculptor Grey has a great consistency, it's not tacky, and creates very sharp details. I did try the Van Aken Black and was not impressed with that. I do highly recommend the Van Aken Sculptor Grey.

Unexpectedly life changing (in an artistic sence)
I have sensory issues and hate normal, water based clay with a passion because of those issues. We had to order oil based clay for business reasons and got a brick of this stuff. from the first time I started to work with it, I knew that my personal relationship with sculpting had suddenly changed for the best. It's on the firmer side and holds details rather well. I love it. And the fact that i can keep reusing it over and over is awesome.

HAPPY WITH PURCHASE
I am new to sculpting and wanted to give it a try. The order came quickly but I was a bit dismayed at how hard the product was. Easily solved ---- 4 - 5 minutes in the microwave and it was extremely pliable and ready to use! I was happily surprised by how easy it was to make a sculpture ----- the clay was odorless (even after putting in the microwave) and the amount of clay was just perfect for a 9 - 10 in. bust. I am letting my creativity run wild! I just 'melt' it down and reuse it over and over. Great product!!!!!

Perfect
After warming it up a bit, it sculpts beautifully. It has no apparent smells fresh out of the package unlike other plasticines I've purchased from amazon, and seems to have a slightly lower working temperature, too. Sulfur-free, so it's good for mold making.
