TCL 65Q7C-UK QD-Mini LED TV, 4K HDR Premium 2600, Smart TV Powered by Google TV (Dolby Vision IQ & Atmos, HVA Panel, Audio by Bang & Olufsen, 144Hz Motion Clarity Pro)

Bought the 65" version of this TV November 25, paid £750 and was able to get interest free monthly installments from Amazon so it's just over 60 quid a month over 12 months. After many years as a Samsung lover I couldn't justify the crazy prices of a similar spec TV from them so started to look around at brands like TCL and Hi-sense etc. I'm absolutely not tech savvy so if you're looking for forensic details and in depth technical analysis you're wasting your time reading this. But if you want the point of view from an average guy, this TV is just incredible! Our previous TV was a 55" 4k Samsung which we moved into the bedroom, only a few years old. I was very doubtful about having a 'cheap' brand as our main living room TV, luckily I work with a couple of guys who are well into their tech and they convinced me to go for it. Delivery was seamless, TV really well packaged but easy to unbox. Although the TV is huge it has a really slim bezel, pretty light and very thin. Was really easy to install, got my neighbour round to help me chuck it on the wall as it was just too big for me to get my arms round. Setting up was an absolute breeze, it runs on a Google operating system which is new to me for a TV but I had it up and running within a few minutes. The OS is very quick and responsive with no lag, works as soon as the TV comes on and links seamlessly with other Google/Android devices. The 'OK Google' voice assistance works really well and you have a voice control button on the remote also. Being a Google TV you can get it to display photos from your phone as a screensaver. Just be sure to choose the right folder 😉 After so many years with Samsung, this TV is a game changer for me. The biggest difference during set up was that my Samsung had the separate media box which all the other devices plugged into, with a single cable going into the TV. Nice but not necessary. The TCL has HDMI ports etc in the back of the TV, I'd recommend plugging everything in before you put it in on the wall. Ours sits close to the wall so was a bit fiddly getting my chubby fingers round the back. But if like me you're not plugging/unplugging different devices all the time it's absolutely fine. As for the picture, it's just incredible. So bright and sharp, no blurring or anything at all. Have absolutely no complaints about it and everyone who's seen it has been just as blown away as me. But the real secret of this TV is the Bang and Olufsen sound system, by far the best sound from a TV I've ever heard. I got a bit curious of what was in store when I was fitting the bracket on the back, 2 speakers sitting on the back gave me a little hint that I was in for a treat and I was not disappointed. The bass is fabulous and the voices are crisp and clear. You can adjust the settings to taste. As for gaming, again I'm not an expert but we connected the PS5 and the TV automatically went into game mode. The screen is fast and responsive, no blur or distortion. Again, by far the best I've seen and more importantly the kids mates were in absolute awe so it must be good. So in summary, for the price we paid this is an unbelievable TV, even if we'd paid more I'd still be happy. The picture quality and sound are both superb. Yes, my Samsung had a lovely brushed steel bezel around the screen and this TV has black plastic and the experts out there will probably be able list alot more than I ever could. But for your average non expert, this is an absolutely incredible TV. We've had it a couple of months now and at this point I don't ever see myself buying another Samsung/Sony etc. Don't be put off by the brand. Buy it.

for a £650 tv this thing slaps, super bright HDR and SDR and some fantastic image processing makes everything super crisp and vibrant, the audio is surprisingly good and you can actually feel the sub bass from the 2 rear woofers. for gaming it has everything you could ever possibly need and 40fps modes on consoles looks stunning. only really 2 negatives and one of those is related to my personal setup, the remote is plastic and cheap but what you would expect really and all the IO is on the right hand side so i just had to wrangle the cables about to get them to reach, luckily the cable manage was pretty well thought out and they all clip in to the back of the stand nicely.

The tv arrived impressively packaged to avoid damage. Pretty straight foward process to get it up and running. Rewarded with a first class quality of picture and sound. Probably has fewer bells and whistles than other much more expensive brands but if like me you just want a superb tv to watch rather than play games with the TCL is worth worth considering. I recommend it.

⭐ TCL 65Q7C‑UK — 4 Weeks In, My Honest Review I’ve been using this TV for four weeks now, so it’s time for a proper review.I upgraded from a 3.5‑year‑old Hisense Mini‑LED which had served me well, but the specs on this TCL were too good to ignore at this price point. I paid £709, which is excellent value for the hardware you’re getting. Picture Quality The picture quality is simply outstanding. In 4K HDR10+, it’s genuinely impressive. The biggest upgrade for me is the black levels — I’ve never had an LED TV with blacks this deep (I've owned 10). It’s on a completely different level compared to my previous sets. Even standard HD content looks sharp and clean. Sound The B&O sound system is the best I’ve heard on an LED TV. My Sony TA‑AN1000 is currently being repaired by Peter Tyson (taking far too long), and while the TV obviously isn’t in the same league as an AV receiver, it does have surprisingly solid bass. I haven’t noticed much in the way of virtual surround, though. Software & Smart Features This is where things slip a bit. I’m not a fan of Google TV — it’s just not for me. App support is patchy:NOW TV has no UHD Sport support even with Boost No Uplay app at all You can’t remove the Apple AirPlay tile from the sources menu It took ages to stop the “Set up AirPlay” notification on boot (had to disable the services) The remote is nice, simple, and not overloaded with pointless shortcut buttons, but the lack of a proper Exit button is annoying. Hisense handled this better. Freeview & Tuner Issues. This is my biggest gripe.Freeview integration is very basic:The EPG looks dated Scrolling the guide automatically switches channel You can’t edit or hide unwanted channels The satellite tuner has the same limitations. You can’t switch between Freeview and satellite easily — it’s one or the other No pause/rewind live TV even with a USB HDD Most new sets include Freely, but TCL clearly haven’t struck a licensing deal. It probably saves a few quid, but it shows. Overall It’s a great TV with genuinely outstanding picture quality and excellent sound. If TCL sorted the software, Freeview integration, and added proper timeshift support, it would be close to perfect.As it stands, it’s a fantastic panel held back slightly by the software and poor Freeview integration.

Having not bought a flat screen tv for about 8 years, the difference is striking I previously owned a Panasonic something or other, which rated well in the day. The overall brightness is significantly brighter meaning usability is great night and day, and the colours are rich but not over saturated. Although i watch most things with subtitles and the sound a bit lower out of respect for the neighbours, the B&O sound is great. With detailed bass and strong intelligabilty for speech, it's unlikely I'll be shopping for a sound bar any time soon. Really pleased with my purchase I hope it gives me years of use.

Buckle up for this rollercoaster of a review Each part of this reviews makes a star rating harder. I’m just going to tell you how it is…. I had an LG C3 65inch…. Long story short I needed a replacement. So…. I chose the Q7C 75inch The installation, the good part. It was free, (you have to provide the bracket). That’s obviously great, you don’t have to pay for installation…. I used the same bracket the LG was on (saving them a job) the bracket was flat to the wall (my mistake, but worked fine on the LG). They turned up with the tv about 5pm ish (young guy with his even younger helper). It’s a massive TV box. They were happy to see the bracket on the wall… they took the tv out, and attached the brackets arms on the tv (these arms have an adjustable screw on top to help with alignment, very important part of the review)…. So they lifted up the tv and as they stood it up the younger lad peeled of all the protective screen covering (WTAF, is he doing I thought) I asked him politely excuse me young chap why have you done that? That’s the last thing you do isn’t it? His reply was a disgruntled grunt… (English wasn’t his first language, but tbh I don’t have a 2nd language to fall back on). So they picked up the TV with their grubby hands now on the edges of the screen…. They proceed to clip the tv on to the bracket in place, instantly the tv is massively higher one side than the other…. No problem I thought just get your long screw driver out and make the adjustment…. Another problem arose, they didn’t have one…. So off the tv came, not as easy as you think Bcus the arms click in to place, and you have to pull the release strings whilst moving the tv towards you.. soooo the 2 guys did this whilst I’m pulling the strings…. And now if I had spoken a 2nd language it really would’ve come in handy at this point, Bcus they weren’t lifting at the same time I was pulling the strings, it became a difficult task…. So the tv came off and adjustments were made, and back on the wall it went, still not level. Off it came,,, (same break down in communication occurred). Further adjustments were made, back on the wall it went, I’m not going to bore you all, but this happened 5-6 times. They couldn’t figure out which way to turn the screws when it was off the wall and they didn’t understand me telling them… after 30/40 mins and tempers frayed, and I’m sure some derogatory language used (I could’ve leant a 2nd language in the time it was taken). We all got the tv on the wall and it was perfectly level (I had became an honorary member of their team). I then noticed a greyed out pixel (bottom left) it wasnt dead but wasn’t active. I mentioned this and again communication was an issue… I believe they said they could take it away again and I’d have to wait a week for another…. At this point they could see I wasn’t happy. Especially as I had already signed for it. So with it now being 6:30pm. Yep, one and a half hours to unpack and put it on the wall (I installed the LG C3 by myself in less time on the same bracket)… so they left and I got out a cloth to wipe there dirty sweaty finger prints off of the side of the tv…… So the TV After some picture settings adjustments the picture is amazing…. UHD content is crystal clear and HD content is just as good. It does have to be seen to be believed that a £1000 75” TV is as good as the LG C3 (granted it is a new model). The game settings are also great… the sound is also another area that’s better than I thought especially with Dolby Atmos….. there’s not much to fault…. But here comes the downside….. The menus are slow to react… there’s also an energy warning message when you change picture preset (and no it can’t be turn off) it gets annoying to say the least…. Oh the NOWtv app UHD isn’t compatible with the TCL TVS, (this is from the NOWtv support team) so don’t buy the NOWtv ultra boost. Don’t know why it’s just not compatible. The discovery plus app is really laggy when watching HD/UHD live sport… apparently it’s to do with the processor of the TV (NETFLIX UHD works perfectly tho, so wtf). The reason it’s the TVs processor is Bcus when I watch the Discovery Plus app through the Xbox, there’s no lag what’s so ever… With it being an android tv… you’ll have to have a google account…. If you have that the tv is a breeze to set up once it’s connected to your WiFi. Oh lastly the Disney app works fine in UHD and Tron really has to be seen to be amazed !!! How else were you going to read this review…. If you want a tv with loads of features at the best price then this is the tv for you… but the cost comes with a few annoying features but size and actual picture isn’t two of them..!! Mayb buy it else where or just get the LG C3 or C5 65” then you can’t really go wrong at all with those televisions. (Yes I know it’s not long but when comparing to opening the app on an Xbox, there’s a noticeable difference.) You have to keep closing all the apps and deleting the cache, there’s an app called Safe Guard pre-installed, it specifically does the deleting, so obviously there aware of this issue. Soooo….. would I buy it again knowing these issues??? I dunno tbh…. The picture is amazing… the system is terrible… so buy a fire stick, use a console with the apps on and these issues disappear… or buy an LG

This is a replacement for a "Philips - The One" and Primary use will be as a PC Monitor. Out of the Box, this thing is huge (I got the 65" model) though surprisingly light & weighing in around 15kg (w/out the stand). As it's going on a floor stand the vesa brackets were easy enough to attach & I was able to pick the TV up by myself and hook it onto the stand. All the ports are located on the right side (none on the rear!) and the power cable plugs into the left side. Yeah, a bit odd & requires a bit of forward planning. It also means cable management is a pain if you want things looking sleek & un-messy! Switching on & setting up is easy enough - You're greeted with the Google setup screen & can either log in manually or scan the QR code with your phone & do things that way. Unfortunately the QR code option wouldn't work & kept stalling mid way with an error message! This I suspect is a Google issue & NOT from TCL as I've encountered this issue many times. Doing it manually and I had zero issues. So the import specs for the TV: True 4k resolution (4096 x 2160 through HDMI) HDR10+, Dolby Vison, IMAX (all checked & supported) DTS:X and Dolby Atmos (Tested & supported) HDMI 2.1 (Tested & supported with correct HDMI cable) 2.1 Audio (Dolby Atmos support) c/w Built in Subwoofers Up to 288hz Screen Refresh Rate (Only useful for consoles / PC) I DO NOT Watch Live Terrestrial / Satellite TV so those aspects I can't review. The main uses will be the usual Streaming Apps & use as a PC Monitor!! Yeah, 65" is a bit overkill for the PC it looks awesome. The TV comes with 3gb Memory & 64gb Storage - plenty to keep things running smooth. If you download a lot of content though (or record a lot of TV) then you'll want to connect up an external storage device or you are going to run out of storage space very fast! Google Home screen is not very good compared to the Philips. Installed apps show as a small list & keeps the "Highlighted App" to the far left instead of moving to the centre of the screen and you scroll across! There may be an option in the setting to change this behaviour. If I find it, I'll add a "How to" at the end under "edited bits". I've also not been able to find an option to customize the Google Home screen as of yet! It's annoying and may put people off as we want to be able to clearly see our most common Apps. With that aside, Installing Apps is pretty much the same for those already used to Android phones. You can also install Apps remotely using your phone (or tablet) via the Play Store if you've setup the TV with your normal Android account. All Apps run as they're meant to. Movies which support the various HDR/Expanded Audio formats all displayed correctly with the correct audio formats. You will have to play with the Display Image settings to get the most out of the TV. i.e. Dolby Vision IQ is horrendous - Light or Dark mode are preferred unless you've silly levels of light coming in to where the TV is located! Also disable "Eco" features if you find the Screen Brightness levels are all over the place - these rely on a sensor fitted to the TV which monitors the current light level. It works for some but most people turn it off. I have it on "Filmmaker Mode" & Motion smoothing set to either "Off" or "Custom 2 & 2". This seems to give the best Image without the horrible "Soap Opera" effect & horrible blurring or juddering. Now for me, the Primary use will be with a PC hooked up & this is where I hit some problems. I have a Full External Sound system which is connected via HDMI ARC/eARC but is only HDMI 2.0 This means I can't run the PC through the passthrough on the Audio system to the TV as it doesn't support the required refresh rates. AND this is where I hit a snag! the TV has 4 x HDMI ports: Port 1 - 4k / 144hz (e)ARC Port 2 - 4k / 144hz Service Port Port 3 - 4k / 60hz Port 4 - 4k / 60hz (e)ARC is only supported on Port 1. I can confirm this as trying the External audio on the 3 other HDMI ports resulted in zero Audio output! A Really stupid decision. Why they don't have it enabled on a second port is beyond me and does mean a potential headache depending on what you're plugging in & the desired Maximum outputs you want! So the External audio is hooked up to HDMI port 1 (e(ARC) and the PC is connected to HDMI port 2. TV found the PC and automatically went into "Game Mode" when I selected the HDMI input. This also opens a new menu where you can change a few specific settings relating to what you've plugged in (Console / PC). This is the interesting bit (And for those interested in knowing the actual supported outputs), What can the TV actually output? 4096 x 2160 @ 60hz (4k) 3840 x 2160 @ 144hz (UHD) 2560 x 1440 @ 288hz (1440p/QHD/WQHD) 2080 x 1080 @ ???hz (2k True Filmmaker Mode) - Resolution not supported by TV (IDED Check - resolution missing) 1920 x 1080 @ 288hz (1080p / Full HD) 1280 x 720 @ 288hz (720p / HD) These results are via HDMI 2.1a to HDMI 2.1 and tested on both HDMI 1 & 2 outputs and are limited by the HDMI (144hz & over is only possible using Display Stream Compression (DSC) which is done automatically above 120hz). Makes you wonder why they didn't add a Display port to the TV?!?!? Results will vary when using a Gaming Console & your PC specs. I will try a Display port 2.1 to HDMI 2.1 adapter if they ever become available to see if this makes a difference. Currently only able to find Display port 1.4 to HDMI 2.1 adapters and these seem to be hit & miss as to whether they work or not! Overall, I'm super happy with the TV. Local Dimming Zones really help with Blacks & reducing "Halo Effects", There's a blue light reduction and lots of advanced Picture settings to allow you to tweak things to your personal preference. Audio options are very lacking compared to other brands & I haven't come across an option which allows me to change the audio format if more than one is present (Think Stereo / Dolby / DTS) so you're stuck with whatever the TV thinks is the best! Not an issue when using External Speakers though. The TV sound is actually half decent considering how thin it is. The inclusion of dual Subs built into the back of the TV definitely makes a difference. Just be aware it will never be as good as an External Speaker setup. You can pair Bluetooth speakers to be used in tandem with the TV speakers which gives things a bit more depth & range. Finally (and just to repeat myself) this is a Huge TV. I have a Soundbar sat underneath which is 1.2 metres long.. and the TV overhangs it by around 15cm either side. Yep, this thing is just shy of 1.5 metres wide! Great TV and some amazing features you would normally only find on much higher end models.
