It gets mistaken for real every day. The only thing I can say about it is that the button on the clasp has started to fade but I am very active and sweat a lot so that might be the case, and where it is made from brass it will leave a green mark on your neck. Now to combat that just coat it in a clear top coat nail polish (la colors rapid dry top coat is cheap and works very well). I've had mine coated after the first week I got it and it hasn't done that since and still looks great. Plus it helps with cleaning. None of the gems have fallen out which honestly surprised me.
