## Overview

AFM Safecoat Safe Seal is a waterborne, low-gloss primer/sealer designed for porous surfaces like wood and concrete. It excels at sealing in toxic outgassing, especially formaldehyde, while being virtually odorless and low in VOCs. This eco-friendly, acrylic-based sealer enhances adhesion for topcoats and adhesives, complies with stringent air quality standards, and supports healthier indoor air quality for sensitive environments.

## Description

Safecoat Safe Seal is a multi-purpose, waterborne, clear low gloss primer/sealer. It is primarily for highly porous surfaces such as particle board, plywood, processed wood and porous concrete, but works well as an adhesion promoter underneath other Safecoat topcoats. It is also commonly used to reduce toxic outgassing by flushing and sealing: in particular, it is highly effective at sealing in formaldehyde outgassing from processed wood such as plywood, particle board, OSB, and pressed wood. Safecoat Safe Seal adds water and moisture protection to a variety of surfaces and is virtually odorless on application and odorless once cured. Use On Porous surfaces such as processed wood products, concrete, wood, new drywall, and plaster. Test surfaces first in inconspicuous areas to be sure product absorbs into surfaces completely. Excellent at controlling emissions of open faced and faced fiberglass batt insulation - simply fog spray surfaces. Safe Seal''s superior adhesion to a variety of surfaces allows for its use as a bonding primer to improve the adhesion and bonding power of adhesives and coatings on difficult surfaces. For example, apply a thin coat to the slab and bottom of the tile before laying floor tile adhesive (in this application no cure period is necessary; the adhesive may be applied while the Safe Seal is still tacky). **Q: doese this have an oder?**
A: It is a very minimal smell and dissipates after drying

**Q: Does it leave any residue? I want to use it over the back of a mirror which touches the wall, so I need to be sure this won't leave residue on walls.**
A: Not that I could tell. I used this on the backside of some MDF trim. Once it was dried/cured, you couldn’t tell I had applied anything.

**Q: Should afm safe seal be used on laminate floors, or would hard seal be better?**
A: I had great success with Safe Seal used on MDF, but am not a factory professional, just an end user. I found Dwell Smart to be and excellent and reliable source for these types of questions. I have used several Safecoat products, but not on Laminate floors. Good Luck!!

**Q: Can I paint over a plywood that has already be stained?**
A: Yes, there's no problem painting over the stain.
