Compared, and excellent for targets, for sure
I directly compared this with a lower powered Bushnell HD (great but only for short distance viewing), a comparable Celestron 20x60 80mm scope, and a Celesteron C90. This scope was amazingly better, and stronger in power, in all respects. Very clear to the edges, no blue fringing (aberration), wide field-of-view, nice grooves in the lens shade to get close to the target area, good eye relief (though, I do not use glasses to know at 60x), easy to adjust 20-60x, wide focus range that is also very easy to use and adjust (not two stage, but, easy to use), nice eye relief twist-out, good front lens shade, comfortable to set-up and use, and looks very nice. I cannot imagine another scope being better than this one. This is the best of all scopes that I tried for the 100yd target and was so big and bright I feel it will do well (a lot better than the others) at 200 yards, though I have not tried this at that range; I had paced out the 100 yard + area at home and mounted 3 different types of used targets with .22 and .223 holes. The targets that leave a green splatter were easiest to read but I could see the black .22 holes pretty easily in small .22 targets, and very close-up on a turkey head and neck. It is also very clear on birds and wildlife if on a heavy tripod. It is a truly AWESOME scope (there are likely better descriptive words), and I got the right one with help from Amazon and Prime. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the seller EZCORP as they have great and fast customer service. I recommend this scope, would buy again for targets (I think it is too long and heavy for birding/hiking with a heavy tripod but it is very clear), and I hope this helps someone.

I bought it for the range but also for night stars and mountain viewing.
Great optics at a reasonable price. I use mine at the gun range, looking at the Phoenix Mountains, airplane spotting, and night time stars.

Excellent, except for small zoom issue
Incredibly sharp for the price. My only complaint is that when you zoom, it doesn't retain focus. This could just be an issue with my copy. If you're zoomed out and focused and you want to zoom in tighter, you will have to re-focus after zooming in. Not ideal if you like to digiscope or take video and zoom.

Very pleased
Very pleased in almost every respect with this scope. I use it for birding. I like the extra light that 82 gives. I like the 20-60 range of field options: 20 allows a larger field for finding birds, and can come closer after getting it in the scope. The angled eye piece keeps me from having to bend over so far and force my head back uncomfortably. The location of the focus ring forward keeps it from moving the 20-60 lens ring. It fits solidly on my tripod. It is lighter in weight by far than many competitors. My only complaint is the difficulty of focusing sharply when using the max magnification. I usually have to back off to sharpen it, though in doing so I do not lose features of the bird.

Great valuethe for great optics
I've been using high-quality optics for over 30 years in a variety of settings. I traipsed around the tropics for a long time with Nikon 10x40 binoculars before switching to Swarovski because of portability and light availability. This scope is an exceptional value, offering great magnification (20-60), excellent low-light images (82mm lens), and Nikon's outstanding optics. And, it's 1/4 the price of the choices I would have made independent of any price constraint. I have two minor quibbles: the eyepiece is fussy, and the objective lens cover is easy to lose (I've already proven that). A pinch-type lens cover is much more secure and tucked away from things that might dislodge it. I'm also not crazy about the neoprene sleeve, but these are minor issues, considering the quality of the scope. Finally, this is marketed as a hunting spotting scope, but it has a lot of range, from birding to wildlife viewing.

Excellent optics with high contrast
This was replacing a 20x40 Swift spotting scope I just sold prior to going on a bording expedition (never thought I would use it). I was considering a Mini Mak (maksutov cassegrain) spotting but found it either too powerful and with to small a field of view, or just right in power but with a washed out contrast. I didn't compare it to other similar spotting scopes but have always appreciated the Nikon performance and it doesn't let you down.

Good scope, but not worth the money
I guess I was expecting more from Nikon. I am very happy with my Nikon binocular (Aculon) its fantastic quality product bought about 80-90 $, worth evry penny, so I was expecting similar value from spotting scope. I know It's not Nikon's top spotting scope and neither my binocular was... so for 600$ I was expecting different experience than my 200$ other brand spotting scope with similar characteristics. So I got disappointed as this product maybe has just slight edge over 200$ scope, so even given Nikons brand I wouldn't pay for it more than 250-300$. Perhaps Nikons next level is better but I'm not planning to go there yet, so just return. Package arrived in normal condition so no complains to seller.
