Should be "10" Star Shine!
I have read most if not all of the reviews for 5 Start Shine, and agree with them all! That is to say that this product can work superbly, and in fact I am one of the many TOTALLY satisfied customers. Having said that, I also know that there can be times when it doesn’t work at all! Allow me to explain ... I first used 5 Start Shine after purchasing a brand new car in 2001. I had read about it somewhere online and decided to try it. Well the shine that was supposed to last five years, lasted over ten years! And I hadn’t even started to garage my vehicle back then, which happened after I retired (1/31/11) and cleaned out my garage. I have since then applied the product a second time, and remain just as satisfied. But recently I or I should say, my wife, experienced very unsatisfactory results. My wife purchased a used car and after having it repainted, noticed that the shine on her newly painted car wasn’t as “shiny” as on my 16 year old car. That’s when I told her about 5 Star Shine and she decided to try it. The product arrived on time, but it took her 6 months to finally decide to apply it. She followed the instructions exactly, with me standing by in case my “expertise” was needed. It was after the first part of the application was done, that she ran into difficulty. What happened was that the “wax” part, which is the second part of the product, had deteriorated. I mean broken down chemically separating into a clear watery solution, and a hard white pasty clump. I examined the bottle and tried shaking and stirring the mixture to see if it would combine again, but it just wouldn’t. Having had a similar experience with a “tire shine” product, which I went ahead and used anyway with excellent results, we decided to try and apply it anyway. This time it just didn’t work. Yes, like others have mentioned, it left the car with an awful mess of smudges. So why the 5 star review? Well, after communicating my displeasure with the purchase to the Amazon team, they quickly (within minutes) sent an email to the third party seller (NSearch Technology Inc.) informing them of our situation. In the body of the email it stated that I should allow 2 business days for the seller to respond. But within minutes the seller sent an email asking if we wanted them to send another order or a refund. My wife chose the refund option and by that AFTERNOON, the seller had sent another email stating that her REFUND had already PROCESSED! And that included not only the product price, but also the shipping and handling fee. If that isn’t worthy of 5 stars, then we don’t know what is. Stuff happens, and in this case both Amazon and the seller dealt with it in the most urgent and excellent fashion possible. My wife and I feel very appreciative, grateful and fortunate for such a wonderful experience with Amazon and its seller, and look forward to doing business with both again. Adding photos to show just how well 5 Star Shine has kept my 2001 Hyundai looking brand new! Notice that even on an overcast day the shine bounces off from all areas of the car.

Was skeptical but it works
I was highly skeptical about this product. However, I tried it and must state that the product does a good job. I applied it since May and now, almost 2 months later is still has the car with a nice shine and the body does not retain as must filth as it used to. Following the guide is important. Especially where they state to mix the part 1 in warm water. Applying the coating is like putting on a wax, just a little more elbow grease is needed to remove it. The shine is not a highly reflective one but rather a deeper, cleaner shine in my opinion. The car does not have that ultra smooth feel as when a wax is applied but water still beads (beads are important to some people I guess). Also, I live where there are 2 seasons - dry and wet - and the car keeps cleaner than before. Dust will still settle and mud will adhere but not to the extent as before and when hosed and washed with only water, it slides of easily. Also, bird droppings are not an issue and washes off readily leaving no visible stains or marks. Lastly, it has some resistance to gas since some dripped by the fuel cover when I was filling up and unlike waxes, it was not cut. Note: My car is silver. However, the shine looks even better on my dark rims. Guess the darker colors may benefit a bit more with this treatment.

Has a beautiful luster that lasts about 4-5 years on a new ...
Works as described. Has a beautiful luster that lasts about 4-5 years on a new car and probably 3 years on an older car with decent paint. You must properly prepare the paint. On a new car that means a clay bar and on a used vehicle you need to buff out surface with a polishing compound. I recently bought a 1 year old car that spent its first year as a rental car so the numerous car washes has actually dulled the paint a little. I spent about 4 hours buffing and detailing the paint until it looked better than new. I then removed all traces of buffing compound and rewashed the car. Then step one as described and followed up with step 2 in small sections. My former "passable" rental car now looks just like the ones that they detail for the brochures. The key is proper preparation of the surface depending on condition. On my new car I simply used a clay bar and followed instructions, that car sat outside 24/7 and when traded in 4 years later still beaded water and had a new car luster. I have applied this to at least 5 of my personal vehicles in the last 10 years and had never had to wax.. picture is 2013 truck that was treated in 2013 when new and again in june of 2018. this truck has sat outside every day of its life still look like new.

Take it from an expert
I’ve been using 5 Star for over 10 years and have done dozens of cars. It makes washing your car so much easier. Even years later my car looks new. This product will last for years (with proper maintenance), unlike waxes or ceramics. Here’s a pro tip: apply the paste thinly. Use the rinse to dampen your application sponge, it’ll enhance the bonding process. Use Ultima Plus Waterless Wash Concentrate to maintain shine.

it was a beautiful shine. Just did the car a few days ...
The Star Shine kit with the solution in it, the step 1 and step 2, well the step 2 solution was hard and crumbly, it did not work well until my husband damped the yellow sponge then tried it again, so he would have to damp the sponge every time he needed more of the step 2. But after all, it was a beautiful shine. Just did the car a few days ago.
