This case upholds the Pelican standard for sturdy, environment and shock resistant, and easy to operate cases. It perfectly fits the Mazur PRM-9000 device and allows the device to function in a rugged environment with less fear of damaging the potentially fragile "pancake" style sensor on its back. If you are taking readings while the device is in the case, keep in mind that some kinds of radiation (such as Alpha) might have trouble penetrating the case, and so you will not detect them as readily. Additionally, while in the case the device may be sealed off from some kinds of radiation emitting particles, and as a result will not properly detect these.Removing the device before trying to take measurements will give you the best possible results, but the case is light and offers excellent protection for your valuable equipment during travel.

This is a Pelican case, which is an excellent brand of cases. Super strong, water proof, and about as tough as they get.The mica disc in radiation detectors is prone to break with shock. So a case such as this one is a good way to protect your investment. But getting this case from Mazur is expensive. I assume it has a custom shaped foam insert, but that's not really necessary.If you want to save round $50, this case is the Pelican 1120 Case with Foam for Camera (Black). You can make the foam insert in the 1120 fit your Mazur quite easily, as the foam is design to be easy to modify. Currently they sell for around $25 on Amazon.
