Sushi fan
Best green colored dehydrated, horseradish powder I’ve ever had! If you eat as much sushi as my family, you would have to be crazy to buy the little containers for 599 at the grocery store when this is available. Although my local sushi restaurant told me they purchased the same product for nine dollars a bag..

Great value
A little too much horseradish taste compared to high quality wasabi, but great value

Deceptive description.
Very disappointed. The product specifications clearly say it is colored with spinach but there's no spinach it is colored with dye. Also horseradish is the third ingredient after mustard and cornstarch. Would have loved to return but since it's food I can't so it's probably going in the garbage.

This is what the vast majority of us know as "wasabi." I LOVE it!
Wasabi is most commonly known as the spicy green paste served as a condiment to all forms of sushi. ... True wasabi is made from the rhizome (like a plant stem that grows underground where you would expect to see a root) of the Wasabia japonica plant. 99.99% of have never tasted true wasabi and never will. I certainly haven't and never expect to as it is exceedingly rare and costly. Most sushi bars don't even have it. HOWEVER, the product I received, when mixed with water as instructed, is PRECISELY what I have come to know and love as wasabi as I have been served alongside all the sushi and sashimi I have ever eaten. It is PUNGENT! I mixed a SMALL portion to test it and I could smell that strong, sinus WHAMMY that can nearly debilitate a person who consumes a bit too much at one time. I cannot tell you how pleased I am to have this product. I had grown accustomed to buying the expensive little green tubes of this to use in my own cooking. Making my own wasabi paste will ensure the highest degree of freshness. I make something I call Japanese Ceviche with just about any fish, but salmon is the best. I chunk about a pound or so of the fish up and add it to a mixture of one cup white wine, 1/2 cup soy sauce, one half cup white granulated sugar, one tablespoon (or more) wasabi and one tablespoon of freshly grated ginger. This marinates 8 hours or overnight. I like it with crackers or oven dried baguette slices. I do NOT try to make this without wasabi, as the wasabi is a key ingredient. I very highly recommend this product to anyone who loves wasabi with no reservations whatsoever.

A lot of unreasonable expectations from folks here.
You got two pounds of Wasabi Powder for 15 bucks. What do you expect? Freeze dried Wasabi flakes organically sourced and ethically produced while telling them bedtime stories? Laughable at best.Yes there is filler, because it thickens the wasabi better than normal pastes. Normal pastes ask for 2-1 (Powder to water) ratios in order to make the paste, but this is almost 1-1. That means you save money yes, but the flavor will be more dull than the stuff that costs four times the price. Also if you really want to be pretentious you should be spending 100 dollars a pound with your pinkies up while you grate the root directly with a fancy grater. Real fresh Wasabi only keeps it's heat for 15-20 minutes before breaking down, but horseradish can go all night baby.If you were expecting better for four times less I've got some news for you. It costs money to produce and sell products and the prices reflect that.I got this product to add another depth of flavor to some of my fried foods. Wasabi, Horse Radish, and Mustards get their heat from Allyl isothiocyanate, which unlike Capsaicin is not oil based. Heat from Capsaicin can last tens of minutes or for some people cause a more severe reaction, whereas Allyl isothiocyanate can be cooled almost immediately by liquids or any compound containing oils such as milk, water, and if your at a sushi bar the rice and oily fish. This means my oily Japanese fried chicken gets a light kick on the outside that is relieved by the oily fats from the chicken within. It creates a flavor combo that packs a punch but wont knock you off the stool.

A Great Hot Horseradish Powder!!!
I ordered the 2lb bag of S&B Spicy Wasabi Horseradish Power. I mixed up a small batch as soon as it arrived today, and it DID NOT disappoint!!! I usually would buy my Hot Wasabi in half quart batches from a local Japanese restaurant that sadly closed recently. It wasn't something they "sold" per se, but I talked them into it, and for years, I had a ready supply and it was AWESOME! Now, I was scrambling to find a replacement, and had remembered briefly seeing S&B containers in the kitchen of the restaurant. So, when I found this item on Amazon, and it specifically stated "HOT", I was hopeful that it was legit. I myself like my Wasabi to bring tears to the eyes, and to have sinus clearing capabilities. This product does JUST THAT!! I also like my Wasabi a bit on the more smooth side as opposed to a paste, which means it has more water in it, but even so, the small taste I took immediately lit up my nose & brought tears to my eyes. I was thrilled!!! I HIGHLY recommend this product for those who like their Wasabi with a REAL punch!!
