In 1968, John Bonham, John Paul Jones, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant formed Led Zeppelin, one of the most influential, innovative and successful groups in modern music, having sold more than 300 million albums worldwide. The band rose from the ashes of The Yardbirds, when Page brought in Plant, Bonham and Jones to tour as The New Yardbirds. In 1969, Led Zeppelin released its self-titled debut. It marked the beginning of a 12-year reign, during which the group was widely considered to be the biggest and most innovative rock band in the world. The Led Zeppelin reissue campaign got off to an remarkable start in June 2014 as deluxe editions of Led Zeppelin , Led Zeppelin II , and Led Zeppelin III debuted in the top 10 of the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart. The albums achieved similar international success with debuts near the top of the charts in more than a dozen territories, including Canada, France, Germany, Japan, and the United Kingdom. For the second round, the band prepared the reissues of Led Zeppelin IV (the third best-selling album in U.S. history) and Houses Of The Holy . As with the previous deluxe editions, both albums have been newly remastered by guitarist and producer Jimmy Page and are accompanied by a second disc of companion audio comprised entirely of unreleased music related to that album. In 1973, Led Zeppelin topped the charts again with Houses Of The Holy , which features legendary tracks such as "The Song Remains The Same" and "No Quarter" while also showcasing the continuing evolution of the band’s signature sound with the reggae-tinged "D’yer Mak’er" and the funk jam "The Crunge." The album has been certified diamond by the RIAA for sales of over 11 million copies. The seven unreleased tracks on the companion audio disc include rough and working mixes for "The Ocean" and "Dancing Days" that reveal a deeper look inside the recording sessions of these classic songs. Other standout recordings include the guitar mix backing track for "Over The Hills And Far Away" and a version of "The Rain Song" without piano. Led Zeppelin continues to be honored for its pivotal role in music history. The band was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1995, received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005, and a year later was awarded with the Polar Music Prize in Stockholm. Founding members Jones, Page and Plant – along with Jason Bonham, the son of John Bonham – took the stage at London’s O2 Arena in 2007 to headline a tribute concert for Ahmet Ertegun, a dear friend and Atlantic Records’ founder. The band was honored for its lifetime contribution to American culture at the Kennedy Center Honors in 2012. In January of 2014, the band won their first ever Grammy award as Celebration Day , which captured their live performance at the Ertegun tribute concert, was named Best Rock Album. You can't go back, but this is a remaster worth having
"Houses Of The Holy" was THE Zeppelin album of my last couple years of high school. I still remember the giddy feeling I got the very first time I heard "Dancing Days" pumping through the family radio on good old WRIF. I don't know how many times I listened to my vinyl copy, Koss Pro 4AA headphones clamped on my head, and my Mom constantly admonishing me that I'd ruin my hearing. It was the time when everyone I knew wanted to be in a rock band, and several of us acquired guitars. Led Zeppelin tunes were often frustratingly impossible to nail down, because none of us were sophisticated enough to know about alternate tunings, which Jimmy Page frequently employed. Likewise, and sadly, no one in my circle was aware of John Paul Jone's immense contribution to Zeppelin's sound. To us, it was all about Plant, Page and crazy Bonham. Jones was just 'the bassist'. As the years passed and CDs overtook my growing music collection, my tastes drifted away from Rock. And when I picked up a couple of the early CDs of Zeppelin's work for old times sake, I was very disappointed in the crappy quality of those transfers. Flash forward, and I finally got around to picking up this Deluxe remaster. Maybe Mom was right, because this still doesn't seem to have the warmth and vibrance I remember from the vinyl - maybe it's my hearing. However, this CD is heads and tails better than my old HOTH CD. Where's that confounded bridge? :)

A brilliant Re-Master and a perfect album
Perfect amongst many albums. I truly wish I had the cash to buy the super deluxe version, since I only allowed myself to buy A super Deluxe of "IV".I agree with many of the comments from other reviewers who have had more experience with the LZ releases. I must admit that my main reason, other than to say I love the album, is that I have bought a lot of remasters in the last year and a half, and in talking with various people, I have got a lot of negative feedback about re-masters in general; the gist of it being that the re-master sounds like the previous releases.Well, I know the people here will say that is not true, but am I just experiencing a limited view ? The albums in this re-release series has the increased clarity and better sound that I have heard in other re-masters; the point being that being able to present audio in a better way so that the guitars, drums, bass, keyboards, etc are all easier to hear makes for a better experience ( but enough vocalizing to the choir ).Whether it is on an iPod, a 5.1 system, or an audio system that allows you to tweak output a little, this is a brilliant re-release. Music by musicians who touched the world with the artistry of the world ( at least that is the way i understood the experimentation).Listen, enjoy and love the artistry of a band that is rare.

Can anyone believe such a masterpiece album could be written as a followup to Zeppelin IV? This is a quality pressing, very quiet - superb sound!

el mejor álbum de Led Zeppelin
Lo reproduzco en un Audio Technica LP-60 y se escucha muy bien, no puedo decir nada mas. Por como se escucha el master que usaron yo creo que es de muy buena calidad, buen sello.
