Bought these a year ago for roadracing, as I was told they were comfortable and very protective. They ARE very comfortable, and don't squeak when you walk around in them (as another brand are known to do!), which is why I gave them a two star review; however, I just had my first lowside in them. The verdict? DON"T BUY THEM unless you don't ever plan to fall off!! The zipper is on the outside of the boot, and at the base near the sole was wiped away in the lowside crash, so when I went to unzip it after I got back to the paddock, the pull came off in my hand. That boot is now trash, unless I spend money to have it repaired. I consider this a basic design flaw. ALSO, from an ergonomic perspective, pulling the outside zipper up is a pain, especially because the top ratcheting clip interferes. ANOTHER thing is that the laces on the inner boot are poor quality and fray, then break. I was told by a friend who had owned a pair not to buy them, and now realize he was right!
