South Bend Wire Crawfish Trap - Square-Shaped, Durable Corrosion Resistant Cage

My five year old son of course asked Santa for a crawfish trap. Why you ask? I is a hillbilly and I be raising him right. My hot city wife thinks I am an idiot, but I told her this is a quality trap. Impressed I was when delivered. The trap is true to form and built well. Easy access to the trap through the door. All around great trap. Looking forward to using this soon. Certainly will update with photos.

Had no poblem caught plenty, great trap.

Ordered this just before a 4 day fishing trip to a lake where we had see crawfish before. The construction and quality seems good, and the size is big enough, but not so big as to be difficult to transport (as it doesn't fold up like some round traps do.) Sadly we did not get anything in the trap, but its not like it was the traps fault. I would assume that in the right place with the right bait, this trap will work great, and we plan on trying again soon. If your like us and have seen crawfish somewhere and want to try trapping some, this would be great as its well put together and inexpensive. Would buy again if needed.

The first two I ordered were pretty good traps, trap door had metal hinges and a hefty rubber band with a hook to hold it shut, rubber bad eventually dry rots being wet then dry, to be expected, and they were only 11 dollars, and they work good, liked them well enough to order 2 more, just got the other two this morning, and while they will still work good, I’m a little displeased about the fact that not only did the prices jump from $11 apiece to $16 apiece within 2 weeks, they are being cheaper on the make, zip ties for hinges on the trap doors, and a smaller shorter rubber band with a smaller flimsier hook, as I say yes it’s all things I can easily work with and I’m sure the traps will work just as well, but c’mon, more expensive with cheaper components? Disappointing especially for an American made product

Well made traps should last a long time, wish it had a carry handle and a rope tie off but I just made them with zip ties. Can't wait to put them to use when the ice melts.

Working good for what I was doing

First off the trap is kinda small, next there isn’t any way to mount a rope to them so you are left to tie it to the mesh or have several anchor points, I decided to use two anchor points, and the very first time I threw the trap out, the mesh tore and the trap went flying and promptly sunk to the bottom of the lake. I’ll stick to making my own

Got here fast durability ok instead of 1 rubber band hook I added 2 more rubber band hooks on the sides to close the trap door better great product

Traps been working awesome in the river I’m on, catching a few big ones per trap. Will definitely get the job done if you‘re catching for bait, otherwise you might want a bigger trap or maybe have a couple as they aren’t very large.

It's a good little trap, well built and effective. It is, though, very small. More of something I would recommend for a child to encourage them to explore nature. Not something I would recommend for someone attempting to use as a food or bait source. It's too small to depend on for any significant quantities.

For a few nights our bait would be gone and yet nothing in the trap. Then one night we raised the trap in the dark and to our surprise it was full of catfish, 6 to 8 inches long, 6 of them, packed like sardines. My 2 little girls found that way more interesting the crayfish! It turns out that as long as there is bait, the catfish stay and when the bait is gone the swim out. I purchased this trap to catch larger crayfish since the opening is bigger, but it turn out that it is to big. We still use it and my girls love catching catfish.
