Necessary if you have an Ulu
So got the Ulu for myself, daughter and daughter-in-law and then had to get the Ulu protector. The knife is too sharp to leave uncovered in the drawer. This works perfectly. Fits the knife and keeps it from doing damage when I reach for it. Well made and attractive too!

Good quality and fit.
Fits my Alaska Ulu knife perfectly (5 7/8" blade). Workmanship is very good; cowhide leather is moderate thickness; medium tan finish; belt loop is anchored well with 4 brass studs; belt loop is 1 1/4" wide with net belt opening of 2 3/4"; safety strap & snap are very secure. When carrying knife it's design is for left hip with cross draw to right. Reasonable price. I like it.

Good for home use, but not for field duty.
While this sheath does fit a standard 6-in Ulu and has a belt loop It's really not meant for daily use outdoors in the field. The leather is bonded which means it is less durable than full grain leather. Plus there is no leather spacer separating each side of the sheath meaning over time a sharp Ulu will probably cut through the stitching in the process of sheathing it.But if you need a edge protector for your Ulu in the kitchen this will work just fine.

1. Like: belt loop is correct for left hip attaching, which is where I need it!!!2. Bought special sharpener. And the knife took a great edge after use!!!3. Together, Both are great!!!
