I'm a guy who is 6' and 190lbs and purchased the largest size for my 36" waist. Even though I knew I read these run small I figured getting the XL would do the trick as I wear a size large in bikini briefs and boxer briefs and athletic gear. Nope! My suggestion is to go two sizes up as the male Asian clothing designer models are leaner than your typical American who needs a little extra space where it's needed and so I'm comfortable. I couldn't pull these all the way up to my waist. If you can size this correctly you'll be happy with the price point for the item. Fits well and I think the drawstring will help when diving because you can tighten it a lot. If you’re in between sizes go two up and you can just pull the drawstring tight.
