Can Schluter-DITRA be used as a sound control membrane?

DITRA isn't a sound barrier but offers some sound attenuation. On a 6" concrete slab, it raised the IIC rating from 28 to 38, which doesn't meet typical codes. Additional sound measures, like underlayment and sound-rated ceilings, are required.

Is it required to waterproof Schluter-DITRA and Schluter-DITRA-XL?

Waterproofing isn't required but prevents damage to moisture-sensitive materials. DITRA and DITRA-XL are easy to waterproof by sealing seams and connections with KERDI-BAND and thin-set mortar.
