The rain gauge itself is fine but the hummingbird is completely green, no other colour (unlike the photo) so it pretty much looks like a large green bug. Disappointing.

Bigger and heavier than expected!
This rain gauge is substantially larger and heavier than I thought, which is a good thing! It was heavy enough that I think it will hold up well in wind, and I appreciate the thick glass with big numbers. It also came with foam floats for the tube but I decided not to use them. I believe that will decrease my accuracy somewhat but I can "calibrate" this decorative one with my old rain gauge. One star off for the cheap metal which I am sure will rust within my first summer, but overall this will do the job nicely and looks great in the garden.

Gauge reads 50% higher than actual rainfall
This is a really pretty rain gauge. I bought one for my own use and recently bought another for a gift (it is now getting returned). We recently received a LOT of rain and I was wondering why others around us reported much less than what we did...thought we were just really lucky. Had someone smart do some math on the lip versus the inside diameter and what do you know, it's reading 50% higher than it should. You receive 3 inches of rain in this gauge, it's really only 2 inches. It still measures rain and looks adorable, it's just not accurate.
