It is easy to use and makes about 2 mugs worth of coffee. Does not have an automatic shut off but that is fine since he just switches off the warming plate as he pours his second cup. It does have a slightly smaller basket size that you could buy different filters for but it's not really necessary. We just use the regular size basket filters squished a little bit and have never had any problems with grounds escaping.
