Wowzers! I gotta be honest, I didnt have super high expectations here. I had a couple people recommend this product and figured I'd give it a try. I have almost black hair and have been dying my gray roots about every 2 weeks. A real pain in the tush. I finally tried this product yesterday and it honestly blew me away. It was so easy to use and didn't make a huge mess. The coverage far exceeded my expectations! Now to see how long it lasts. Fingers crossed!

OK, the low down on this dye. I have been messing with my hair color for about 50 years now, so I have a lot of experience. I was intrigued by this concept of shampoo hair dye — interesting, could be a real time saver. Here’s a review, in bullet points: GIGANTIC big bottle, very surprising I chose Coffee color, very nice brown to reddish tone, true color As this was my first use, took some adjustment. The gloves they send are HORRIBLE and actually make the product more difficult to use (way too big, super slippery). Wasn’t sure if you could go bare handed — forgot to check if this stains skin horribly. The gloves turned hideous orange (how my Coffee read on the cheapo gloves) which terrified me and almost made me bail right there! So I carried on. . . What comes out when you pump is a clear gel and a shot of your color ( again orangey in my case). I rubbed my hands together to mix, then, in my graceful way, glopped it right on to my head. I shook the bottle a few more times, as I figured they don’t want it separate like that, although I had already shaken it pretty good. Push the lever down to get another handful in your palm — they try to suggest how many pumps you’ll need, but just go until your hair is completely covered. They supply a weird plastic cap to put on — I don’t usually use these, to each their own. They also supply a cheap plastic cape. Rub it in, really drench your entire head. I wiped my skin that was dyed — again, unsure of how much it stains. Left mine on 30 minutes. Shower, lather it up, rinse out, you will need conditioner (they supply) or your own. Voila!! GREAT COLOR!! Really pretty, exactly Coffee-esque! Hair soft and smooth as a baby’s bottom! As they say, style as usual! Final verdict: haven’t shampooed yet, will add to this review if something goes terribly wrong. Good news: I have just about the entire bottle left, so this could end up being very economical. If I get 3 or 4 recolors out of the 22.00 or so bottle that would be great!

Recently purchased and love it so far (First time user so I haven’t had a chance to see how long/many shampoos it’ll last). I have shampooed it once since using the dye and so far it is still holding up & looks great! My son liked the color so I also did his and he’s loving it also. It fully covered my greys and left my hair very shiny and soft. No chemical smells either, nice fruity smell. I have purchased two more bottles recently to have on hand and I’m fairly certain I’ll be back for more when I run low. Only drawback which I believe is on a case to case basis is that both my son and I noticed some minor itching/irritation while we waited for it to process in our hair but we may just have had a mild reaction to one of the ingredients (we didn’t test for an allergic reaction), however we have had no issues after washing it out and had no other symptoms. I’d just recommend testing beforehand as instructed. It was very easy to use and convenient. Definitely recommend giving this a try!

This product gave me hives. No I didn’t do a test strand prior to using the product. I’ve been dying my hair with many different products including using hair dye shampoos before. In the last 40 some odd years I’ve regularly dyed my hair with many different brands and I’ve never had this problem before. I used it on Good Friday and gradually started itching. Small areas at first, on my head, then by Easter Sunday the itching became unbearable. I had to fight myself to not scratch. Then later in the day I noticed that my ears were sooo itchy. I literally scratched them till they were covered with little cuts from my nails. I have never had something that itched unbearably like this. So Monday I decided to use baby shampoo to try to get the dye to come out. In the shower it felt like the rash was spreading, and it was! It’s all down my back, my chest, my face, my arms. The itch is so intense, I kid you not, it’s bad enough to make me cry I’m not kidding. I’m calling my PCP tomorrow. I need a steroid or atarax or something to stop this unbearable itch. I will never use any dye again without a strand test. Seriously, it’s horrible!

Massive bottle, I did not expect. It's worth the buy! It really works. My mom put it on her hair for a while, easy to apply. Kept it on her hair before she went to shower.
