It was really easy to pack in a carry-on bag and I loved having the extra spool for the reel so I could pre-spool two different line weights for whether I was creek or lake fishing. I had no trouble landing 1-1.5lb bass, hand-sized bluegill, 14" fall fish, and even a surprise 5-lb catfish. I didn't have any of the problems that the negative reviewers mentioned, and although I didn't exactly treat the combo delicately, I'm also not abusive with my gear either. On a side note, I'm really glad I bought this rod/reel combo instead of just buying something up in Virginia and just leaving it there -- there was little to no fishing gear available there! Now I'm thinking about buying a second one and bringing them both with me when vacationing or traveling.
