PRIMEWELD TIG225X 225 Amp IGBT AC DC Tig/Stick Welder with Pulse CK17 Flex Torch and Cable

I researched this welder (comparing it to other Tig welders) for over a year. Any large purchase, such as this, I take very seriously and don't want to have buyers remorse, if/when I can avoid it. The biggest point in this review is to tell you, YES, THIS WELDER IS WORTH IT, after a month-ish of owning it, I can now say that I do not have buyers remorse and have been very happy with it. I have put it through 3 full argon tanks of welding (without any argon leaks). One of the worries I had, prior to purchase, was that I would have an issue and wouldn't be able to get decent customer service. I purchased myself this welder so I could teach myself to Tig weld. One Sunday night I ran into an issue, it was total operator error and my fault, and pulled up the website for primeweld, and input my information in to receive customer service. I knew that it was a weekend, they were closed, and expected an email (hopefully) in the next 24-48 hours. The next day, Monday, my phone rang at 7am (central time). I accidentally answered, thought it was a telemarketer, and hung up. An hour later, the same number called. It was the primeweld customer service rep, who was repeatedly attempting to reach me, to resolve the issue I wrote them about. I explained it was my own error, and apologized for wasting their time, and they were super nice and understanding. They had every reason to give up contacting me after I hung up on them (unknowingly). They tried, and most people would have given up at that moment. This guy/company DOES WHAT IT TAKES TO TAKE CARE OF HIS CUSTOMERS, EVEN AFTER SELLING THE ITEM. TLDR-the primeweld customer service is fantastic. Like I said, I've been teaching/taught myself how to Tig weld (have not done stick welding with it). I have done steel and aluminum, 1/8" down to 22gauge. The machine and it's abilities far surpass my own current abilities, and I have a feeling it'll be a number of years until I'm close to outgrowing this welder. I've been so happy and impressed with the process of Tig welding, and the actual welder itself, I highly doubt I will ever use my mig welder again. The first Tig project I did, to learn, was building the cart that it's sitting on in the picture. It's held together great. This welder has definitely helped me, making it easier to learn Tig welding than machines with confusing menus. I haven't ran into an adjustment I needed but didn't have. Oh, THIS WELDER INCLUDES AN ACTUAL INSTRUCTION MANUAL. it's not just an assembly instruction, it gives specific detailed information (57 pages) for people that are clueless and learning, like I was, and I was able to successfully teach myself to Tig weld steel and aluminum using the provided manual and google/YouTube. I included a picture of the manual with the review. I wasn't paid for this review, I wasn't given a discount for it, I spent my own money and paid full price. I'm serious when I say that I don't currently have a complaint about this welder. I'm genuinely impressed and overall happy with this, and would 100% purchase again if I could go back.

PrimeWeld 225x 225 amp AC DC Pulse TIG/Stick welder Chris, Springfield, MO I received the new welder on the 18th of April. I bought this welder because the power is greater and the control is better than the other welders in this price category. I looked at other machines that cost much more and most of them did not have the adjustability of this machine. The machines that I found with most of the adjustability were in the $1500 to $2500 range or higher for the American made machines. I looked at the digital machines and decided I did not want to learn a new language again. Memorizing instructions (push this button three times and then that button twice then the button under the other setting once for this and a fourth button two more times) is not user friendly to me. I have tested this welder on mild steel in DC mode and found it to be a very good machine. The material I used was 3/16th flat and angle. The flat butt welds showed very good penetration and smooth consistency. The fillet welds were clean and strong. The duty cycle is 40% and the machine did not overload at any time during my testing. I did have several welds that were 5-6 minutes or longer on 3/16th aluminum tread-plate. I did one very long weld with the aluminum and the welder did not balk at all. As for TIG welding in general it is so versatile that a little investigation and knowledge can go a long way to overcome challenges. I believe that this will be a very good welder for anyone with a little experience welding; for those without any experience I would suggest getting together with someone who has at least a little experience for a little help. The internet is a very good place to get the information you will need to make the learning curve shorter. That is not to say that you have to have experience, only that depending on your ability to work things out by yourself it can be challenging. I have been a DIY’er for many, many years and I can tell you that TIG welding is not something most people can do perfectly at first try. In this realm it truly is practice that makes perfect. I haven’t done any TIG welding for more than 40 years and it is like learning to weld all over again. And it is still fun. This welder will give you everything you need to do the average welding jobs found in art, middle manufacturing and most anything around the house. I am giving this welder 5 stars; not because it is perfect, (though it is top of the line), but because I believe it is by far the best you can get for the money. The customer service is better than I have seen at many companies. I am sure Mike will bend over backwards to be the best in your mind as well. This has just about every feature that you can expect from a TIG welder. Pulse, AC, DC, high energy start. Pre and Post weld settings. It comes with both a 4Touch finger trigger and a 2Touch peddle. First time using a 4T trigger and may be my go-to controller. Haven't even used the peddle yet. The CK17 flex torch is high quality and considering the cost of package it is a double plus. It comes with a small starter pack of consumables. Aftermarket consumables for the torch are cheap and easy to find with the exception of the CK17 heat shield. Apparently it is unique to the CK17 torch and you can only to buy it from CK which makes it expensive. I could not find one aftermarket but I will keep looking. It all works well and the controls are well laid out. One small gripe: The labels on the controls and settings are really hard to read, impossible in low light. A hobbyist or a small shop will not outgrow this machine. One thing is they do recommend a 50amp 220v circuit and a 30 amp 110v circuit. Might not be right for a high volume, 8hour a day welding shop but it may survive for a couple of years. But you could buy three for the price of a Lincoln or Miller of similar capability. Manuals have a lot of information and are surprisingly good for a machine in this price range. It has the feel of a quality machine and it comes with a 3 year warranty. For the price this is an amazing machine.

Had this for a couple months now, I know I know, that’s not a lot of time BUT, I’ve used it a good bit since receiving it and I gotta say it has not disappointed so far. I literally just got done welding some sheet steel with it at 30 amps pulsing with background set at about 30%. This thing was steady as a rock and laid down a beautiful weld. I’ve run it as high as 150 amp and got the exact same arc, steady. Haven’t got a chance to go higher yet but I expect zero issues. I’ve done a little aluminum just to test it out and again, no issues, the AC side works great. I have not used the stick feature yet and do not plan too, that’s not what I bought this machine for. This is the best deal out there for a full featured tig machine and with an excellent torch included. I prefer knobs to digital panels so this was perfect for me. If you are ok with the knobs I’d recommend this machine to anyone from a beginner to a pro wanting a machine for home. I myself am somewhere in the middle as far as experience goes. People complain about the fans being loud, it isn’t that bad. I prefer the powerful fans, cool electronics live happy lives. It’s not a tiny compact machine, it’s got some size and weight to it but well worth making room for it in your garage, just don’t plan on lugging it around the country side. That’s not what tigs are for anyway. I’m very happy I ended up getting this instead of some random Chinese tig off eBay or Amazon. It’s worth every penny and then some. I spoke with customer service briefly just after purchase about a pricing issue and they were excellent. I was impressed with their service, hopefully I never have to talk to them again. Don’t hesitate if you are in the market for a tig to put in your shop. It’s an impressive machine for the money.

This is a very good welder. Easy to move and setup. Offers an amperage range I can work with. AC and DC amperage. The high frequency is a great plus to tig welding no more lift or scratch start. The CK17 tig torch parts can be purchased pretty much anywhere as tig parts are pretty standardized. The arc is very stable pre and post gas flow timers set to your liking. The only things this doesn't come with are the welding rods and the gas bottle. so It basically works right out of the box.

My first tig welder. However you should be aware: - switch is on the back - fan stays running constantly - the labels on the dials could be easier to read, but that's nitpicky. I do wish they had detents though but they adjust smoothly with no notches I love the ac arc start. I haven't welded aluminum with this yet but I'm confident it's great for that. I'm only running it on 120v right now, nothing thick, so I have not put it through its paces with duty cycle or anything like that. Where it got ugly is the included regulator. I wish they would have skipped the mask entirely and put 10 bucks into a better brand of regulator. The regulator low pressure hose adapter fitting was out of round (not threaded square) and seals poorly. The regulator is designed with a sliding brass movement - it was full of left over brass machine gunk. But critically, they pinched the o ring in the vent hole during assembly. It leaked immediately when turning on the tank. Found the exact same regulator but cloned version and had it the next morning. But talk about a bummer when you want to try your brand new welder on a Saturday morning. Otherwise the machine itself is a quality unit. If you are a newbie like me and assume the red electrode goes in the positive jack, you'll have fun burning up some tungsten. Go watch some YouTube safety videos first. Don't try to weld stainless steel in your garage, or zinc or galvanized material. You'll have a bad day. If not today then later. It will be bad. Also my other helpful tip is: the gas hose from the cylinder goes in the back. They should probably require a license to own one of these things but honestly if you live long enough after owning a welder, and don't burn your house down three times, that's good enough for natural selection I guess.

I am pleased well beyond expectations. I weld a lot of cast aluminum and the adjustability of this machine for those varying metal "recipes" is outstanding! The company warranty, complete parts inventory, exceptional full color user manual with clearly written instructions in ENGLISH, real CK World high quality torch and super smooth foot control.... the list of 'well done' is long. In a nutshell? Watch 'The Fabrication Series' review of this machine on YouTube. It is a very thorough assessment with great detail. I have found nothing said in that review to be untrue or inaccurate. In fact, his review is true to the last syllable. Want negatives? Ok, there are three pretty minor items to date: The fans are loud'ish and don't shut off via temp sensor. They are sound measured to be slightly quieter than the Lincoln Square Wave, though, in another direct unit review and comparison. They also keep the machine very cool during the heaviest use. Bottom line for me on that... no biggie. I make noise, too, when I work, and a cool running TIG is a good thing. The ranges on the front dial adjustments could be much brighter and more visible. Yep, they could. It would bother me more if I hadn't already memorized them. (I use this machine regularly.) Its a legitimate short fall, though. The "On/Off" machine switch is on the back. An odd location, but I also find that tolerable and well memorized at this point. That's it. The machine is capable of very sensitive adjustment to individual needs and conditions. It is intuitive and logical to understand with some very brief training directly from the outstanding Owner's Manual. Arc performance and control-ability is exceptional. I'm flat astonished with the capability, ease of use and overall quality of this machine. No, I'm not sponsored by anyone for anything from any company. Its a damn fine machine. One last note. I bought this after finding out that competitive models (I purchased this TIG and the PrimeWeld Cut60 together) from EverLast would not sell to me if my credit card's address is different from the delivery address... with no provision for exception/explanation when I was ready to order. I have my card billed to a rented Post Office box for security reasons... the very reason they claimed they wouldn't sell. Interesting. What's also interesting is that I had been planning these purchases from EverLast for many months and didn't consider the PrimeWeld tools because they were collectively $2000 less... it just seemed too cheap. But then I encountered the EverLast roadblock, started seriously watching the huge number of machine reviews and got more informed. They're both imports, are reputed to be excellent quality (which I now know about the 225), great service, parts availability and warranty (PrimeWeld's is better) and the PW products left $2k extra in my account balance. Two hours later, my PrimeWeld order was in. Two days later, I had equipment on my doorstep. I'm very happy I did my research and saved the money to put into more tooling needs. I can buy this TIG two more times if it pukes and I choose to, and still have money left vs. the EverLast unit's cost. WATCH the Fabrication Series review of the PrimeWeld 225. It is worthy of your time.

I just received my TIG225, and what an amazing piece of kit for the money. I always struggled to weld aluminum with my old TIG set up, but this ran like a champ straight out of the box with absolute minimal fuss - super stable arc through the CK torch, and great foot pedal.
