KIKI Health Organic Chaga Mushroom Extract Powder 50g – Standardised to 30% Beta‑Glucan Polysaccharides, High‑Potency, Wild‑Harvested on Birch Trees, 100% Sclerotium

Absolutely yummy. I bought this for my dog for his special protocol to heal from the big C. I decided to put some in hot milk one night and OMG! I was hooked. It's the most gorgeous flavour and not bitty like other Chagas.

I ordered Kiki Health's chaga mushroom extract but received the same manufacturer's organic goji berry instead. That didn't bother me, as I love organic goji, but it means I'm reviewing Kiki Health's goji berry supplement here, not the chaga. (I know there's a separate Amazon product page for Kiki Health's goji berry powder, but because this is a Vine review it has to go here, where the Vine link leads.) Goji berries are an abundant source of compounds that benefit health. They contain phytochemicals (including polysaccharides, beta-carotene, and zeaxanthin) which benefit eye health, skin health, cardiovascular health, brain health (they are neuroprotective), and cell development, among myriad other things. The berries contain prebiotic fibre, so if you consume them along with a probiotic supplement, you'll get much more benefit out of the latter. Because of goji berries' adaptogenic properties, they help the human body to adapt to any form of stress (physical, mental, emotional, environmental), resulting in a feeling of greater well-being, with a knock-on effect of improved sleep quality. This is one superfood that really deserves that title. Kiki Health's goji berry supplement contains no additives whatsoever - just pure powdered organic goji berry which is perfect for adding to porridge, drinks, or whatever else you choose. The organic certification means no pesticides or other biocides have been applied to these berries. That's how all wholefood supplements should be. Why would any sane person even consider consuming something so toxic (biocides) that its name literally means "life-killer"? That's a rhetorical question. No sane person would willingly do so. Organic is the way. I've been adding some of this powdered goji berry to my organic porridge along with some organic Ceylon cinnamon and organic peanut butter, for a breakfast that's a full-on nutrient-dense feast that couldn't be healthier or tastier. The berry powder has an enjoyable tangy flavour. The powder comes in an amber glass bottle. Amber glass blocks UV light, ensuring that the contents of the bottle undergo no chemical changes as a result of UV exposure. Good design. There's nothing to criticise. A healthy supplement that has many pros but no cons.

Chaga is a wonderful adaptogenic mushroom long used in traditional medicine around the world, with an impressive array of purported benefits, and said to contain over 200 beneficial compounds. I’ve used chaga on and off for quite a while and am very much impressed with it, finding it to be a fairly quick-acting start my day and a worthy contribution to my overall health and wellbeing. Of course, I’m always looking for the most potent and pure versions possible, and the version here supplied by KIKI Health is, as expected from this supplier, excellent. What I really like is that the extraction process not only carefully preserves the vital nutrients and compounds, but also effectively breaks down the cell walls to make them more bioavailable, which is particularly important in a supplement like this. Also, the wild harvesting is good as I always think that plants, herbs and mushrooms gathered in their wild and natural states are better. Another plus is that the powder is pure chaga without additives, which I’m always going to opt for, believing that health foods should ideally be entirely healthy (of which the KIKI Health range exemplifies). The powder is versatile and can be taken in a number of different ways. It can easily be mixed into water with only a little stirring, and tastes rather pleasant by itself (and better than other chaga powders I’ve used). It’ll also blend well into all manner of other drinks. I have a mini blender of which I like to mix a range of powders into various milk alternatives, and a larger blender to make all sorts of blended fruit and vegetable drinks, and the powder works well in both. On days when I’m not using the blenders then I’ll sprinkle the powder onto porridge, which again works well. For the amount, effectiveness and quality of a powder like this, the price isn't bad at all, and one I would happily pay. An all-round superb chaga product.

While mushroom powders will inevitably look high priced I do know that Chaga mushrooms are one of the ones that is considered a superfood with an impressive list of apparent benefits (including heart health) due to being filled with things that are good for the body, an extract is where they use a process to make the beneficial things more available to the body and therefore more potent than basic powders. There are also 2 other things that make the price no longer seem as high to me, the supply and the versatility. A dosage is only around 1g from a 50g so easily lasts a month or more and can be taken in plenty of ways whether that be sliding it into a hot drink (tastes fine in tea or coffee), I even used it as ingredient in a very experimental (but healthy) sauce I tried making. With all that said I can see it being quite recommendable to those with the budget and wanting to keep healthy.
