Nice flavor

Vegans rejoice! Tastes pretty close to the real (meat-based) stuff but without the cholesterol. It’s soy-free, which will please some people, but is made with gluten, which will disappoint those who eschew gluten. The flavor and texture are pretty versatile when pan fried but the flavor falls short when stewing or steaming, as the sausage’s seasoning and taste simply diffuse into the liquid. The microwave is acceptable in a pinch. I prefer the texture of these sausages over the other vegan sausage brands I’ve tried, including Tofurkey. The texture is a bit crumbly, which mimics a real brat, whereas other brands can be like a dense slab of faux meat.

lost a star due to super high sodium content

I purchased four different kinds of vegan meats to use in my stew/soup (budae chigae aka Korean army stew) and this one was the yummiest. It was pretty darn close to being salty and sweet like breakfast sausage. It was the only one worthy of reusing the next time I make my soup. All the others were way too salty but still edible. Here is how I would rank them: 1.) Field Roast Vegetarian Grain Meat Sausages, Smoked Apple Sage 4.5/5 2.) Tofurky, Deli Slices, Ham Style 3.5/5 3.) Field Roast Grain Meat Frankfurters 3.5/5 4.) Field Roast, Vegetarian Grain Meat Sausages, Italian 2.5/5 There were other flavors/brands I wanted to order but they were out of stock.

My family love these. If you want a sausage, but don't want something that reminds you of meat, these are great. My wife is a longtime vegetarian and does not miss meat nor does she want to feel like she's eating it. These are good sausages. Make sure you brown them up, the texture is nicer when they are browned in a skillet with some olive oil.

Tastes amazing

We like this sausage, even though we aren’t vegan or vegetarian. I add fried onions and this sausage to our Mac and cheese. I fry onions and cabbage and add this, and some spices, to make a meal. I’ve also used the apple sage and the fennel Italian sausage together to make lasagna and spaghetti sauce.
