Classy looking, very useful iPad stand
Once I started to use my iPad as my task management venue of choice, I wanted a nice stand to put it on at work. I was looking for the following criteria, in no particular order:1) looked nice & classy in my office2) could hold a third-gen iPad while in the case (i.e., couldn't fit too snugly)3) was sturdy & heavy enough not to move if I wanted to type an item into the list without removing the standThis stand exceeds all three criteria by a mile.Much like any iPad stand that I've run across, it looks a little strange in the office without the iPad in it, but it looks wonderful with the iPad nestled in the stand. The iPad is held up by the two small "arms" that protrude from the bottom of the mount portion of the stand. This holding mechanism lets it hold an iPad with a relatively thin case on it ... I'm not sure how it would do with a more full-sized case. (If it helps, I haven't tried it with my Dodocase but I think it would work ... just not with much room to spare.)From reading other reviews, it seems that the base on this model is heavier than the non-PRO model of this stand. I thought this PRO base was the right weight, and would not want anything lighter. Also, upon receiving the stand, I was curious to inspect the "cheap plastic bearing" on the back, that many other reviewers referenced. The "ball" that allows pivoting (similar to a ball and socket joint in your body, like a shoulder joint) is made of plastic, as well as the housing that tightens / loosens the joint. That said, it didn't seem flimsy to me, and mine certainly isn't broken at this time. I'll update my review if anything changes in the future. For what I was looking for, I would give this product five stars. I am completely satisfied with my purchase and would make it again.Jon

A great product except it doesn't adjust without breaking.
I looked at all of the ratings on this product and was impressed. I wanted the best option and most stable stand for my iPad2. The pivoting part of the stand is very awkward to adjust. It is very difficult to tighten. This can not be done by hand. A tool is almost impossible to get to the area where you can adjust it. And what happened next. The plastic portion broke leaving it unusable. I then returned to Amazon for a refund. Stabile Pro really needs to change the method of adjustment, or the lack of. It is a great product except it doesn't adjust at all without breaking. Work on it and come up with something better.

This is exactly what I wanted but pricey.
I wanted a simple, attractive, sturdy stand for my iPad 2 to put on my desk and this product is exactly what I wanted. I bought two of these, one silver non-swivel for my wife and one black with swivel for myself. They are both quite hefty and I have no concern that the iPad will slip as I flick angry birds across my screen. The base is perfect for tucking the Apple wireless keyboard away when not in use.The only draw-back; I think it's a little expensive for what you get but it seems like everything iPad is. Overall though, I'm satisfied.

BEST ipad desktop stand. I agree !
GREAT USA made ipad stand. SOLID, great build quality. i have an ipad air 2, IN an otterbox defender case. and it fits NICE n SNUG, in the Stable PRO. i can even tilt it in profile mode and am never worried. i use the Grapple PRO to secure it for this purpose. absolutely worth it getting it. i think i agree in that it should come bundled with the 'Stable PRO' stand. built like a rock, beautiful design, american made. i hate cheap flimsy stuff, so you can imagine how pleased i was to find this product. recommended, if you have the funds. it was rather expensive to ship to canada, but i had a good year lol.oh yeah, i'm 5'4" w a regular build …. another thing i use this stand for is when i'm sitting and lounging legs out on the couch or bed, i can turn this stand sideways, and place it so the bottom is under one leg, then i swivel the ipad so i can use it play my pinball app ….. very handy indeed. this probably wouldn't work for a bigger person though lolupdate 2015: i just realized that i can use this stand to also display album covers !! …… so i also use it for this purpose as well ….. to show what record is currently on the turntable !

Very Sturdy
I wanted 'Made In the USA' because I was looking for quality. This I-Pad stand delivered on all points. The base is level with four rubber pads that hold any place you want your I-Pad. The vinyl resting pads hold my tablet even with the cover on. The only drawbacks are the stand does not adjust up or down (you will have to make that adjustment on your own), and the tilt motion works too hard. The instructions advised not tightening the black nut at the pivot ball. The problem I have with the pivot is that nut arrived already too tight and I am not able to loosen it to make the pivot work smoothly. The base of my I-Pad sits exactly 5" from the base of the stand itself. I did not purchase the Grapple Strap System, but this stand is so sturdy, there does not seem to be a need for it. It would take a lot of effort to knock this stand over. If you want to switch the orientation of the I-Pad, simply pick it up and move it.I am not great at reviews, so I hope this was helpful to you. Thank you for a nice made in the USA product.

Not as thought out as the original
The original, non-pivoting stand is excellent and a solid stand. This one is also solid but has a fatal design flaw - it tilts forward so far it actually faces down with nothing to hold your tablet up. If you push too hard too low, your tablet will fall face-first on your arm or tabletop. If they had just *thought* to add a bit of metal near the rotation ball, to stop it from tilting so far forward.I tried tightening it so it wouldn't tilt so easily and the connector actually CRACKED open, breaking the stand.[Update 12/13] Received a warranty replacement (thank you). It looks like the new design won't crack as easily, but it still has the easliy-tilts-to-far-forward problem. Maybe the 3rd version will fix it.
