Q: How breathable is the material? Could you wear body armour over this comfortably?

The material is breathable (less than woven cotton, but much more than a woven polyester material). The inside feels fine in contact with the skin, although one will certainly want to wear a cotton T-shirt or undershirt underneath. It is one of the best fabrics made of Nomex® that I have seen, and I have seen quite a few, I cannot help with the body armor part of the question.
