what is a trick-taking game?

It is a game in which different cards have different values. Players display their cards one at a time--an action referred to as a trick. Of the cards displayed, that with the highest value wins, that is to say, takes the trick--they player to whom the highest value card belongs collects the cards displayed by all the other players on that trick. This action is repeated for the number of cards held by the player. Look up the rules of bridge, hearts, spades, etc. to get a fuller description of a trick taking game.

Would this game be good for an adolescent-aged kid (or an adult) as kind of an introduction to Bridge? I found bridge hard to learn. Would this help?

Yes. With a clear rulebook with good examples this game will be easier to learn. Plus there are only 3 suits and two players, so less to track overall. It will take some time to get good at the game though so don't get frustrated.

Whats the difference between the basic and premium pack?

First I've heard of it. I even checked BGG and there is nothing about a premium addition. Probably just a seller trying to make his product sound better to get your busines.

What are the tokens for, I have no board in this set?
