I’ve used quite a few flat irons over the years, and the ghd Platinum+ definitely stands out. It feels like a professional tool right from the start heats up quickly and glides through the hair very smoothly without pulling or snagging. What I noticed right away is how even the heat feels. It straightens my hair in fewer passes compared to cheaper irons I’ve used, which I really appreciate because it feels less damaging overall. My hair looks smoother, shinier, and stays styled longer. I also like that it’s easy to use simple on/off, no complicated settings, and it just works consistently every time. Pros: Smooth glide with no pulling Heats up fast and maintains even temperature Leaves hair shiny and frizz-free Feels like a true salon-quality tool Minor downside: It is on the pricier side, but in my opinion, the performance and results justify the cost. Overall, this is one of those tools where you can really see and feel the difference. If you style your hair regularly, it’s definitely worth the upgrade.

Wish I can give it 10 stars. My hair is thick, north african, curly hair. I can’t believe I can straighten it quickly with 1-2 passes! I pair it with l’oreal heat protector and finish it with hair serum for the flyaways, but it stays soft and healthy looking for days!! It’s also so easy to curl your hair with one twist. Very versatile, smooth, and leaves the hair shiny unlike other big brands. Perfect temperature and I don’t have to worry about figuring out which temp to set it to I’ve been using it for months now and still excited! I finish my hair perfectly in 20 mins! I don’t dread it anymore. The picture is showing my natural hair and my straightened hair that took me ~10 min. It functions really well. Takes less than a minute to heat up. You can just place it on any surface as it’s designed in a way to not leave burns. HIGHLY recommended and saves you the salon money over time!

The best quality hair straightener I have had. I love the heating speed and how it lowers the speed so it will not burn my hair. My hair has been saved due to this flat iron. It is very easy to use it adds shine, Great if your hair is thick this will do, the cord length is perfect.

I’ve been using a very basic ghd flat iron for more than 20 years, so I already know the brand well and have always respected it. My old one was still good, but after that long it was obviously time for an upgrade. I debated whether this model was really worth the price difference — and after using it, my answer is absolutely yes. For context, I’m 52, post-menopausal, with fine hair that can be a little frizzy and slightly unruly. My hair is cut into a chin-length bob, and because I wear it sleek and polished, a flat iron is not an occasional tool for me — it’s part of my regular routine. So when I say I noticed a difference right away, I really mean it. The very first thing that stood out was the glide. This moves through the hair much more smoothly than my old iron. There’s no tugging, no catching, and no dragging. It feels far more refined, and that alone makes styling feel easier and gentler on the hair. The second thing I noticed was that I needed fewer passes. In most areas, one pass was enough. That was a big deal for me. With my older iron, I often had to go over sections more than once to get the finish I wanted. With this one, the hair looked sleek much faster. The only places where I did a couple of extra passes were my cowlicks and the more stubborn areas around my front sections — but even there, it still performed better and faster than what I had been using. Another thing I appreciate is how well-balanced the tool feels in the hand. It feels substantial and high quality without being awkward to use and it's definitely a perfect weight, not heavy at all. The overall build feels premium, which is what I would expect at this price point. It heats up reliably, performs consistently, has a long, user friendly cord and feels like a serious styling tool rather than just a basic flat iron. As far as value goes, this is obviously not inexpensive. But for me, this is the kind of purchase where the difference is clear almost immediately. If you use a flat iron regularly and care about smoothness, efficiency, and how your hair looks afterward, the upgrade makes sense. I questioned the price before buying it, and now that I’ve used it, I don’t question it anymore. I’m genuinely so happy with this purchase. I already liked ghd, but this made me realize just how much better a more advanced version can be when you actually put it in your hands and use it on your own hair. If you’ve been hanging onto an older flat iron and wondering whether moving up to this level is worth it, I can say from experience: yes, it is. If I could give it more stars, I would.

UPDATE 2024: They've lost a customer for life. It's 2024, this $300 straightener has been replaced once because it pulls hair (look at picture), it's a design flaw that was unchanged when we finally got our replacement (process took over a month). This replacement has now, multiple times, done this "overheating" failsafe immediately after it's plugged in. That's on top of the pulling because they didn't design the body properly or chose junk materials. DO NOT BUY THIS. The GHD we had before this lasted over 5 years for half the price and never pulled or failed in any way until it finally did. 2023: Bought this for my wife last year, as her previous GHD Straightener finally stopped working. I want to say we paid about $200 for that, and it lasted something very impressive; like 5 years+. This one, however, the GHD Platinum+ Professional Performance 1" Smart Styler has been trouble since the start. Immediately, the thing was grabbing her hair as the straightened. Annoying, but she dealt with it because when I contacted GHD it would have been this whole process where I wasn't sure I'd get a brand new one in return. Despite there clearly being a defect as the previous 1" GHD didn't grab her hair. Now, after almost a year of owning, this thing won't even turn on. It flashes red or something similar she said. Not only is newer, but it's also more expensive and supposedly "smarter" than the old model that worked flawless until it didn't. I would not recommend getting this. Now, I have to go through warranty pains on something that I never should have. What's worse, is I'm sure they won't send her one in the meantime. I'll have to send this in and wait for weeks.

Heats up super fast and does a great job. My only complaint is that my hair gets caught in the end of the plate so I tend to lose a couple hairs if I’m not careful.

Best flat iron in all of history!

Have had this for a year now and it heats up insanely quick. Even I tried it out to see how fast it heats up. Lightweight and plenty of cord slack to reach around our bathroom sinks. Pretty slick looking and though she uses it mostly to straighten hair it.

I was initially a little leery to purchase this on amazon, I was worried it wouldn’t be “authentic”, but I decided to take the plunge and bought it. Upon arrival, I immediately went to GHD’s website and signed the product up for the warranty and had no problems so I’m happy to report the straightener is a genuine GHD product. This is my first expensive hair tool. All previous straighteners I’ve owned came from drug stores for $40. My hair stylist uses one in her salon on my hair all the time and I’m always so taken by how smooth it feels on my hair and how fast she curls my entire head. It slides like butter and it doesn’t pull the hair at all. I liked her straightener so much that I had to buy one for myself, despite the high price tag. So when it comes to actually using it, it’s very easy. The straightener claims to heat up in 20 seconds, but when I timed it, it actually heated up in 9 seconds which is very impressive. I have fine hair, so I’m always worried about excessive heat burning my hair, so the fact that this straightener didn’t have the option to choose your own heat made me a little nervous, but it’s been just over a month of using it and so far so good! The temperature always seems perfect and it only takes one pass to curl or straighten my hair! Because the shape of the iron is slightly thicker, I find it easier to get a nice curl. All in all, I think this was worth the money. It is a very high quality product and the honest fact is that my cheap drugstore straighteners don’t compare. I’m happy I splurged on this because it performs wonderfully!

Last month I travelled to the UK for a wedding - I brought my North American T3 straightener and unfortunately the AC converter / adapter I used, didn't work and blew my straightener! I needed to purchase a new one - I went to a hair salon and purchased the ghd Classic Original - not cheap! But wow! I was so impressed with this iron! Came back home and still needed a straightener I can use with a North American plug. Looked into the ghd line and splurged! I purchased the ghd Platinum+ ... I've never looked back! I've been using a straightener for over 30 years - I've owned a few! This is truly the best straightener I've ever owned! My hair is shiny, silky smooth! Yes, even better than the ghd Classic Original! The iron heats up incredibly fast. I would highly recommend this straightening iron - yes, it is expensive - but it is so worth it!

OMG. I have been using flatirons since the mid-90s. I have gone through every brand, including premium pro stylers. They always required repeated passes through my hair which caused dry and damaged hair. The results were never perfectly straight, nor frizz-free, and I consider myself very adept with styling tools, including rollers! My last drugstore-purchased flatiron gave up after three years of not-daily styling and straightening. So, rather than end up with yet another less-than-satisfactory flatiron, I googled "best flatiron) and came across lists of the best for 2019 in all the top fashion mags, Allure, Glamour etc. The one styler at the top or near the top of every list was this one. So I bit the very expensive bullet and ordered it. To say that I am blown away (haha!) by it, is an understatement. I am in love with this thing. Quite apart from the fact that it's quick on, requires no temperature adjustments and can travel, it has left my hair shiny, straight (or curly, if that's what I want) as well as absolutely frizz-free. And I bought it in July, when the weather is humid. It allows me to very easily build in volume and shape, and with a twist of the wrist, waves and fat curls. My GFs all have noticed that my hair looks, as one put it, "more modern." Between the time I ordered it and when it arrived, I saw my colourist and stylist who both said I was nuts for spending so much. I am seeing them next week and I am bringing it to show it to them. That's how much I am impressed. I bet they will be too. Awesome product. No reservations except, perhaps, the price. But, as a life-long frizz fighter, I think it's worth the investment. UPDATE: After I took it to my salon, my guy tried and started raving to the other stylists. Many of them bought one.

Me encantó!!! Tuve mis dudas al inicio por el precio elevado y por saber si su enchufe funcionaría en México, pero realmente valió la pena! Es una gran inversión, mi cabello quedó con un perfecto liso y brillo, cosa que ninguna otra plancha había podido darme. El precio vale la pena! Inmediatamente al recibirla, la registré en GHD para verificar su autenticidad y... es ORIGINAL!!! Por lo que la compra es 1000% segura!!! El enchufe o conector lo puedes usar perfecto en México. EXCELENTE COMPRA!!!
