Homedics SoundSleep White Noise Sound Machine, Blue

I have purchased several of these noise machines over the years, and they are wonderful. Unfortunately, we have loud neighbors who sleep to bass music and, if I use the ocean waves on a few of these machines at the same time, it helps drown out the bass. Great for traveling too - used many times in noisy hotels. Thank you for such a wonderful, long-lasting product.

Made well. Love it. A few choices of sounds to pick from. Volume gets loud. I have 3 of them now.

We live in a semi rural area, but there is an industrial park about half a mile away. No big deal, right? Wrong. They start operating their forklifts as early as 5am on weekdays. It's not super loud, but it's loud enough that it woke us up every morning. We got ear plugs initially, but they were uncomfortable. I bought this out of sheer desperation and omg it works! We have it on our window sill and have it set to the rain setting. It plays 24/7band has been for over three months now. Not only does it block out the beeping noises, but now it sounds like it's raining (a sound we both love). Definitely recommend people give this a try!

Ok. First thing first. This unit as far as sound quality goes is exactly on par with its price. This is not a high-end quality speaker/sound system, so the reviews about it sounding "tinny" or high in treble, well that's just a bit "i want my cake and eat it too". The people who claim to hear strange sounds or voices, I have no doubt are. There are a couple of logical explanations. Plugging it into an outlet or even another outlet that runs on the same line (breaker) with one that has a TV or some type of media or appliance etc, may cause interference (humming, voice sounds, spooky stuff, grinding, etc). The other is white noise machines, as well as other items that produce constant noise ( ie bedroom fans), are known to cause auditory hallucinations in some people. Your brain is constantly trying to find patterns in things that have no pattern, like seeing animals in clouds, and sleep machine voices are another example of that. I have the latter issue to some extent, no voices. White noise is the only setting I can use for sleep. It seems to have the least amount of loop sound. The other sounds are ok for about 5 minutes and completely acceptable to use if you are listening just as background sound and doing something else. But if that is all you are listening to and trying to fall asleep you may find your brain focused on searching for a pattern. Once it discovers it, because the loop is about every 4-5 seconds it will become fixated on it. Rain for example has a constant soothing drizzle in the background - no problem, but throughout it, there are faint dripping sounds at different sound levels, the way 4 or 5 different leaky shower or faucet drips would sound one after another (BLOOP, bip, bit, BLAP, bit), then it repeats and repeats and repeats. Summer Night has crickets at different sound levels, I found the pattern after about 20 seconds. Some people may notice this others may not. I really doubt a baby or child would but those who have a tendency to be sensitive to something like that may be better off just buying a pure white machine. And even that may not help auditory hallucinations. Would I buy it again? For the price probably. The white noise for me is fine for sleeping. If I'm doing stuff around the house or working in the garage and don't feel like a radio or tv I turn it on and the other sounds are acceptable because I'm not focused solely on the sound so I don't notice the loops. I have batteries in it so it's portable and for the bedroom, I plug it in. Hope this helps. UPDATE: 12/23/24 and still functioning.

This is the 3rd one we have bought as everyone in the family uses it. Easy to pack for traveling too.

While traveling I stayed over night with friends and this white noise machine was in their guest room; I woke up the next morning after an amazing night's sleep (with my super snorer partner in a smaller than typical bed) and immediately ordered one for myself! I could not have been more impressed! I am not a good sleeper! I require a fan for the noise, or I did before I found this amazing machine. I've tried white noise machines in the past with little to no success, but this one is somehow different. Even my partner likes this and sleeps better and more soundly with it on, and he isn't one to like any sounds while sleeping - my fan was not his friend. We are both sleeping more soundly and waking up feeling better and more rested since we got this! In addition to the sleep quality factor, this is also great because it takes up very little space, is lightweight, and is easily packable for when I'm traveling. It can be powered with batteries (and the cord is removable), which is super convenient for when you're traveling; there may not be an extra available power outlet where you need it. The controls for all the settings are clearly labeled and easy to use and switch in-between.

Must have for travel and couples. We prefer the ocean waves sound.

Had to order replacement and got this one. It’s not bad but much quieter than one I had before.

Excelente. Muchas opciones de sonidos, para que elijas el que te gusta más. Buen sistema de audio, se escucha muy natural. Neutraliza todos los sonidos externos (mi cuarto da a la calle y es muy transitada. Funciona perfecto). Mi bebe y yo logramos dormir!

Good basic sound machine. Came with USA plug only. Why is this even still a thing when everything can be a USB cord and not require an adaptor? Behind the times.

This machine is terrible. We bought it for the white noise function but you can hear intermittent repetitive beeps and replaying patterns like bells and chimes in the background of the white noise. It's not there all the time but when it's there, it drives you mad. I thought I was hearing beeping in the walls but its definitely coming from the machine. I'm throwing it away and purchasing a different brand. Also the first day I got it I put batteries in it as it had a plug not suitable for an Australian outlet, and the batteries lasted a few hours, that was it. It must use so much power.
