Brilliant little thing
I just bought a new one of these to replace an identical model thatโs been efficiently drying our house and clothes for 10 years before finally giving up. The new one is working faster and quieter. The simple rotary humidistat control is just what you need - do yourself a favour and avoid the over-complicated things with apps or digital panels - the reality is that you wonโt care and will want something simple. Dries a laundry load in a day, or a whole room full of laundry in two. The tank is quite small (but bigger than many others) so when itโs working hard you will need to empty it frequently - every day or with every new load of laundry.

A very effective and relatively quiet dehumidifier
This is an excellent desiccant dehumidifier, and superior to my previous one costing twice the price. It's compact and light enough to be moved around the house if required. It needs about 8 inches of clearance from the wall to the back of the machine for the filter to work efficiently. The filter is at the back, and it's very easy to clean as it just slides out from the side. It can be vacuumed or brushed. I use a soft-bristle brush (new paintbrush or similar). It's quieter than my last dehumidifier. On the Eco setting, it makes a similar noise to a cool air fan. The turbo setting is noisier since it uses more power. I've placed mine in the hallway, where it manages to extract moisture from the living room, bedroom, kitchenette and bathroom. Internal doors need to be left open a bit, but windows, etc., should be closed while the dehumidifier is in use (otherwise it will draw in moisture from outdoors and cost much more to run). The rotary dial allows you to select from a complete range of humidity levels, not just low, medium and high as on preset push-button models. However, apart from the raindrop (moisture) symbols, there's no scale of humidity level settings on the rotary dial itself, so you will need a separate hygrometer to measure / monitor the actual humidity levels. From electricity meter readings, and for a 1-bedroom flat, I've estimated that using this dehumidifier on the Eco setting for 24 hours daily, will increase my electricity bill by about ยฃ10 to ยฃ15 per month (although this may be greater for larger houses, or if your pre-existing humidity or dampness levels are particularly high). The estimated cost takes into account the fact that it doesn't actually operate for 24 hours, because it cuts off automatically once the desired humidity level has been reached and only comes on again when the humidity level rises. The increase in electricity could be reduced by using the dehumidifier only during the day or night, or only when cooking or using a shower / bath. However, on health, hygiene and humidity grounds, it may be advisable to keep it running as long as it remains affordable. UPDATE 27 Feb 2016: After running this dehumidifier on automatic for the last few months, I've found that it doesn't need to switch itself on as often now since the humidity levels in the house have been progressively reduced to an optimum level. Therefore, the electricity costs will be less than I estimated originally (above). This EcoAir dehumidifier is proving to be more economical than my previous one (which was a different brand).

Super dehumidifier and reasonably priced
I bought this specific dehumidifier as a friend had recommended it and I must say it works very well and pretty quietly. I haven't had one before so can't really compare to anything else, but we bought this to help dry out a very damp room which had been recently re-plastered and would not dry in our old/poorly insulated cottage in the wet and cold weather. Within a day of putting the unit into the room most of the walls had visibly dried and a day later the entire walls appeared dry. We have kept the machine on for about a week now and the whole house is feeling much less damp and cold. The most marked improvement is that clothes are coming out of the wardrobe feeling dry and warm and the same can be said for our bed sheets which previously felt very cold and slightly damp every evening when getting into bed. A number of reviews say this, but having bought this item my only regret is that I did not buy one sooner. We recently moved into an old cottage which is poorly heated and hardly insulated so it seems we have signed up to a lifetime of dehumidifiers, but with this unit being as small and quiet as it is, we are quite happy to have it working away on one of the relative humidity settings to keep our house comfortable and prevent excessive moisture in the built-in wardrobes causing damage to clothing. If you are looking for a dehumidifier in this price bracket I would thoroughly recommend.

Great when it works
Bought this last January to help keep the air in my (at the time) small, open-plan house free from moisture when cooking. Unit it unobtrusive, and fairly quiet when in "Low" mode. I'm a light sleeper and can sleep through this. It kept my windows free of moisture and helped to curb the damp patch that was on the stairs. It's also great for drying clothes indoors - set it to dry mode and leave it by your clothes for a couple of hours and it'll dry them out. Running costs aren't too bad. Using my British Gas meter it was reading about 5p/hour on low and 10p/hour for drying mode. The timer function is great if you're going out and want to run it for a time without worrying about cost. It is pretty efficient and it's always shocking to see how much water it pulls out of the air. I've since moved to another house but still use the unit when I'm cooking in the kitchen, or having a shower. It's great for winter when you want to keep the windows closed but don't want the condensation. After about 13 months the unit stopped working. I tried my luck and contacted EcoAir directly about the fault. Despite being out of warranty, a few email exchanges and a copy of my Amazon receipt later, they agreed to repair the unit for free. Couldn't fault their service and had the unit back within a week.

Works really well, but watch your electric bill!
I am really impressed at how well this product removes water. I live in an old flat with single glazed sash windows which streamed with condensation every winter. I also started to see mould on some walls, along with a faint stale smell :-( After trying a compressor type hudidifier which was noisy, and didn't work if the temperature fell much below 20 deg C, I thought I'd try this model. After plugging in it just kept pulling litre upon litre from the air, after a day or so I started to see a big difference. Now condensation only appears on the windows on the coldest frosty mornings, and the mould on walls and the musty smell is gone! I find the turbo mode very useful for drying clothes indoors in winter too, within 5 or 6 hours the clothes are pretty much dry. One word of warning though, these do use a fair bit of power. Try to be a bit careful... I worked out if this thing is working non stop for 24 hours it will cost you about ยฃ1.40 or ยฃ2.50 a day depending whether its on the quiet or turbo setting (assuming 15p per kwh). While this might not sound much it does add up! Having said this if you try to keep the humidity around 50 or 60% it only switches on for a few hours a day & will cost you a lot less than this. Try to remember to keep the humidistat set to Lo as much as possible. Set to Hi (40-50 % humidity) only when you need too, eg drying laundry or if it's really cold outside causing damp or condensation. This way you will not be increasing your utility company's vast profits too much:-)

Excellent product!
Rreally amazed at amount of water this pulls out of the air. We have had a damp issue in the bedroom for a while which has gotten worse due to working from home (wife uses living room, so I have to use the damp bedroom). We had been doing a poor job of managing the issue with other dehumidifiers pre Cvd19/lockdowns but when we had to start working from home the damp problem got much worse. So I did a bit of research which showed this type of dehumidifier was significantly better than cheaper versions. But it's worth it Have used far cheaper dehumidifiers in the past, but this one collects 2litres in 14 hours where cheaper versions barely manage that in a week. It isn't silent, but it's only about the same noise level as air conditioning unit when it's running on economy mode ( level I usually run it on). Took a couple of days to get settings right, but now working perfectly. Automatically runs through the day and pulls enough condensation out of the air to not have to run through the night. After clearing up mould, and painting anti mould paint on problem areas and then installing the kit the room has been clear of mould and damp on the walls for over a month. No sign of mould recurring (which it always did previously no matter how much paint I used)

Brilliant product
This is the second humidifier we have ordered and we are delighted with it (hence the second order!). We recently moved into a flat after downsizing. The flat we moved into had been empty for 9 months without any heating during the winter months. As we were advised that according to our deeds and the covenant contained in it we could not dry washing on the balcony or over the balcony railings. We did some research as to how we could dry it indoors and were advised to get a de-humidifier that would dry washing. The reviews for this product were really good and the price was not too bad. We were thrilled that this seemed to be the answer to our problem. As the winter months rolled in we realised that we were getting condensation in the main bedroom on the outside walls. It was the usual story of heating going on and windows closed. We got someone in to advise on what we could do - his advice was to open the windows very slightly, not enough to feel a draught but enough to allow the damp warm air to disperse and allow cool air to come in. He also said to maintain an even temperature throughout the flat and use a de-humidifier to suck the damp air up out of the walls and windows and replace it with warm dry air. This was the best advise ever - it really works - no damp at all now and no condensation on windows or black mould on the walls. Hence the purchase of our second de-humidifier - one that we could move around the flat as needed and also dry the washing at the same time. This is a brilliant piece of equipment and so easy to use. You would be surprised at how much water can be gathered in the tank at the bottom, even when you think there is no damp in the flat. My advice would be to also purchase a thermometer /humidity gauge to help identify which rooms need some help in dealing with condensation etc. We now keep our flat at an even 20 degrees and the relative humidity (RH) at around the 50% mark. Warm and cosy and no condensation. Brilliant. Would definitely recommend this product.

Super Duper Damp Remover ! plus updates
I had to replace my old Dehumidifier as it recently died :-( That machine had been used for a number of years and was in fact second hand so I was happy to look for a similar model. This one looks like the most recent version of my previous one. Good points: It does what I need it to do; which is to remove humidity from my bedroom at speed so that I don't have to have it on all the time, which frankly would drive me nuts as I need quiet to sleep. You can choose how powerful it works by either going with Auto, Normal or High. Most days 2 hours of High takes my room below 50%rh of humidity which is enough to stay clean of mould.( Mould grows at around 68%rh. It is preferred to keep the room around 50%rh,. Of course the damp and humidity levels will vary depending on where you live. I live in the wetter southwest near a river so the humidity tends to be very high. On drier days using the dehumidifier, the humidity will go down to 40%rh very quickly, wetter days take longer. Without the dehumidifier the humidity easily rises to 68%rh. I bought a humidity meter to keep track of humidity and was shocked at how high it was in my room. Just heating doesn't help. You can set a timer for 2, 4 or 8 hours. I find this handy as 2 hours is usually enough, if not, just don't use the timer and turn off when you want to. The noise isn't too loud. I can even sit in the room and read with it on High if I want. If you use the Auto setting the machine sensor will power according to how damp the room is. It is fairly lightweight and easy to move around. It doesn't take up much room. You can use it dry washing. It has a Laundry mode button with 2 settings, Turbo and Saving. The you set the louvre opening to Up and it does a really good job of sucking up the wet. I find it particularly handy for washing that didn't quite get dry on the line. It has an optional Ioniser button, which releases negative ions......all I can say is that it seems to make the room feel fresher. The only Bad point I can think of is that the container for the water to be collected in does fill up in 2 or 3 days, or 6 hours, so you need to remember either keep emptying or there is an option to use the tubing that comes with it, and fill up another larger container. If the container is full the machine switches itself off. A good safety point, but if you are not in the room you can forget and find nothing has happened cos you forgot to empty it. There is a light indicator when full if you are in the room to see it. Urgent Update !! 9th January 2012 My dehumidifier has stopped working after just 5 months. As it is under warranty I have contacted the company on the back of the Warranty, and not the seller, and am waiting til Wednesday for it to be collected and repaired. I will update on how well this is done, because I am not happy with how much effort it took to even get to speak to customer services at Meaco. The man on the phone was also quite rude, not what is wanted when there is a problem. Latest Update 27th Jan My dehumidifier is back with me now and is in good working order. I returned the machine to the actual manufacturers, Ecoair, as the people there were polite and helpful on the telephone, and have been efficient in organizing the collection and return needed. All seems well, I only hope that the machine will now continue to work for a long time as these are not cheap. If there are any problems I will post back here but fingers crossed I won't need to.
