I would suggest Aphraonline take a lesson in English, a living language so words and their meanings evolve over time - Homonyms - look the same, sound the same but have different meanings.

If you are studying a PhD in Chemistry then the very narrow academic definition of organic used in that discipline may be relevant. However, in medical parlance organic and inorganic are descriptors of symptoms both biological in origin, but to doctors are treated very differently.  Organic to a beef farmer has a different definition to that of a wheat farmer and of course the soil associations definition would outrage home gardener. Cooks / Chefs would disagree on the defintion used by Marketing Consultants and then there is the general public and their expectations.

However you personally define "organic" is very subjective.

Is there much difference between this and Himalayan pink rock salt?

I think so, it’s made from sea salt and not rock which is much lighter.  It isn’t overly salty which I know sounds stupid! It seasons without having to grind.  Grinding with fingertips is fine.  Try the small box to see if it suits you first?

How can you say it is organic when you cannot control or know what goes into the sea?

Hi David,This question was sent to me by Amazon as a customer who may be able to help with other customer's questions. I am not connected to the company who make the salt, so if you want to ask them a question they do have an email address on their website to contact them at Maldon. Google them and you will find their website easily. It is worth knowing that organic can mean 'prepared without chemicals' it does not necessarily mean what you are inferring about the sea. For example all soil has some contaminants in it and that cannot be avoided sue to various things like pollution, however the soil association gives the title of organic if the grower/producer does not ADD any chemicals in the production, so sea salt being organic is perfectly valid. You could also check out the Soil Association website if you have concerns about organic foods. Hope that Helps.
