Starfrit The Rock Classic 11" (28cm) Non-Stick Deep Fry Pan with Helper Handle - Durable Forged Aluminum - Oven Safe - PFOA Free - Easy to Clean

We've only had this pan for three weeks, and considering we replaced a second-hand, 10 year old cuisinart nonstick pan of the same size with this, it has been like night and day. This pan is GREAT. Great for non-stick uses, eggs and melted cheese -- no problem. Wipes right off. We use less butter and oil now because we don't have to worry about having to scrape things off after we cook. It's great. The bottom has already had a spot come off, but we use this thing daily on a gas stove, so it's going to get banged up and well-used. Three weeks in, we are SO HAPPY we picked this pan. It's sturdy and extremely non-stick. Will update if this changes and when if any problems occur.

This is my 2nd Starfrit pan. I purchased the little one, good for one egg, a few years ago and was so impressed with how it cooks and how beautifully it's holding up I ordered the 12 inch with lid to replace an old non-stick pan that was starting to look toxic. This pan is awesome. Arrived with a dent in the lid (under shirinkwrap - ATTN: Quality Control) but their customer service, while a bit on the slow side, replaced the lid with one that fits better than the one that arrived with the new pan. These pans are light weight, easy to clean (follow their recommendations!!) and are a joy to cook with. I'm very happy with this purchase, happy with the very reasonable price and applaud them on having excellent customer service.

I have quite a few pots and pans from the ROCK by starfrit, and I love them all. Simple, no nonsense, good nonstick quality (makes both cooking and cleaning easy), and much more durable than your typical teflon coated nonstick pan. I loved them so much I asked my boss to purchase 3 for use at my store (I run a recipe- demoing program at a large eastern coast family owned supermarket chain). They were only $20 each (with the lid!) when similar options available to me were at least 2-3x that price. So far I'm loving them, and my sellers like them too. Before, when I used regular nonstick pans, my sellers absolutely destroyed them. Thousands of deep scratches covered these pans from being abused daily. As you know, when you scratch up teflon or similar material, it's no longer nonstick and more importantly, no longer safe to cook in. They all went into the garbage, and I tossed them in happily. Now, I do not allow metal to be used in these new pans, but even if I'm not there and it does happen (eg. using kitchen shears to cut things still in the pan, metal spatulas, etc) I'm confident these pans will hold up much better than the old ones. If your family tends to beat up nonstick pans, definitely try this line of products. P.S. the only reason I have durability as a 4 star is because this still isn't a stainless steel pan, which while they're a pain to cook in, technically last forever. Also, one of the glass lids was dropped on a tiled floor during washing (about 3ft off the ground) and shattered into thousands of pieces. Now, this is a good thing, because even though it was a pain to clean up, the small pieces weren't severely sharp. Everyone now knows to be very careful when washing the lids.

Update 2 years later, Dec 2021, Well I still love her, she’s still going strong. It’s a really good popcorn pan too, just hold the lid in place sort of hovering over once the popcorn starts getting uppity, I do 3 tbsp oil + 1/2 cup kernels, nothing to it. Can fry potatoes in here, crazy hot oil hasn’t damaged the pan. I still stick to the package recommendation not washing until it’s cooled down and never hot water only warm. She’s probably good to go for at least another year or two. Same thing still stands, can’t put too much oil or I won’t get any sort of char, just a bit, and I still smear it around either with a tissue or paper towel to make it really thin even layer. One of my best Amazon purchases, thank you. Original review, summer 2019, This product is everything I ever dreamed a non stick pan should be. It is huge but if you have basic strength in your hands wrist you should be able to maneuver it, however I wouldn’t recommend for an older person or someone with very fragile bones. The only thing I’d add is if you want a good roasting of veggies in this thing, use *only a hint* of oil. I put in maybe a quarter size then use a tissue to smear it around the bottom. I’m not saying a tissue is good for the pan, I’m just saying it works for me, since having soggy veggies is not my thing I love the charred look & taste. Heck, you could even leave out the oil. I have been taking good care of it like the package says: I only wash it when it’s completely cooled down & I only wash with warm water, never very hot. This thing is basically my baby and she’s a good worker. Very pleased and if I ever muck this thing up I’m coming right back to get another; best I’ve ever owned!

So when I was shopping for this pan I read so really negative reviews about the lid not fitting, and etc. The only bad thing I can say about the Rock is it’s packaging during shipping. Instead of using those small air bags, that just wrap some paper around the pan in a box bigger that it. When I got it, sure enough the lid didn’t fix because the box got dropped somewhere and the pan wasn’t round anymore. It had a flat spot. So I returned it. I got a new one, and the pan was fine, but the lid was dented. I hadn’t sent the other one back yet, and took the good lid off the first one and shipped the dented lid and dented pan back. They need to pack it better. So how is it working out? Fantastic! You just got to know the pan is aluminum under the coating. So don’t put your burner on high. You don’t need too, and you may warp the pan. Just put a little Pam, or a very little bit of oil in it cook on medium and it’s fantastic. You’ll really like the results. I don’t use metal utensils on it cuz you don’t need too. Nothing sticks and it cleans up easy. You may have to get a couple shipped to get it right, but it’s really worth it. Best pan I’ve ever had.

Best pan I’ve ever purchased! Last one lasted me five years, to me that’s amazing! When it’s time for a new one, I will buy the same pan!

We purchased this, and were totally exited when delivered. Very well made pan. Upon taking it out of the package, we quickly noted the cover did not fit. Contacted Amazon, customer service, and they were once again exceptional at replacing it, with same model. New one should arrive soon, and I will update this review. Thanks Amazon for your GREAT service. ************************************************************************************************* UPDATE...We received new pan today. Other than a little ding on the cover, it fits perfectly. No need to return an item for a little ding, that will not affect taste of food or cooking. If not for the little ding, I would give Amazon a five star for their help, consideration, and great service. We have used Starfrit pans before, and they are terrific.

So much to love about this pan! I bought a second one, because I loved the first one so much. The first pan is going strong, and I doubt it will wear out anytime soon! The non-stick finish is excellent, and extremally durable. I am good about using wooden or silicon tools in my pans, but I don't take the time to handwash them. This pan is run through the dishwasher 2-3 times a week, and there are no chips are nicks in the finish after a year of use. After a year of heavy use, the non-stick finish is nearly as good as when it started, and most things can be wiped away with a paper towel. I often cook HelloFresh/EveryPlate recipes, and this pan is my go to for every meal. I can fry pork or chicken, I can make excellent hamburgers. Pasta sauces and browning meats are a breeze. I have a propane cook top, and can get excellent browning in this pan that I can usually only get with stainless. You won't be disappointed with this pan, and it's size makes it an extremally versatile pan.

Glass lid exploded in first 10 minutes of use. Very poor quality.
