Mercury free thermometer
Absolutely love these! They are easier to read than the real thin thermometer.

Garbage product with terrible return policy
I bought two of these so threw away $16.00. The first one just didn't work. The numbers are printed on a piece of paper that was not fastened to the glass so it just slid back and forth. This would not inspire confidence in the reading if it actually read anything. The center tube where the liquid should be was broken. Totally useless. The second one may work, it's virtually impossible to tell because the angle required to read any change in temperature is so minimal as to be illegible. To make matters worse you cannot return these in a typical Amazon way. Drop it off at a Whole foods or other authorized location? God no. You have to print out a label and pay shipping to return it. I've already lost $16. I'm not going to spend another $4-5 plus my time to try to get a refund from a seller who clearly doesn't care enough to follow standard Amazon procedures. DO NOT BUY THIS

Great old fashioned thermometer
It's hard to find a non digital thermometer these days. The digitals I have founds are not accurate, so what's the point in checking your temperature if it won't give you an accurate reading anyhow? Not sure why there have been a bunch of negative reviews, maybe cuz they're not sure how to use a non digital one. This is a simple, straightforward thermometer. Stick it, close your mouth, count 5 minutes (yes, I know it sounds like FOREVER!), and then read the number where the line goes up to. May everyone stay nice and healthy!

5-7 minute hassle, one broken, hard to read
One of the two thermometers was broken internally, with loose parts and spilled metallic liquid inside. The working one takes a couple *minutes* of vigorous shaking to reset, then 3 to 5 *additional* minutes to get a reading. So get ready for a long wait. You can only spot the line at an incredibly precise angle. And the instructions are terribly written, something a 5 minute ChatGPT session could have fixed. UPDATE: the working one is now broken (after 1 use); permanently reads 96 deg, no amount of shaking "resets" it and 5 minutes under the tongue doesn't increase it.
