Work great
Love them! I've used them on all my retrofit fans for my 1890's Victorian home! Easy to install and very sturdy hold

Time saver
First time I've used this bracket, so after installing it I still went up in the attic to see how it went. Providing that you place it straight between the joists, you're in business. If not, you risk putting it on an angle between two joists compromising regidity of the brace. Otherwise, it's a massive time saver and in a way it serves as a junction box by isolating your wires from insulation (would be better if it was made of non conductive material, probably cheaper to manufacture too). My ceilings are level so I didn't have to deal with balancing the fan blades. However, if you do get a fan wobble, make sure that the brace is sitting flat on the plasterboard on both ends. If it is but you still get fan wobble your celing is not level. Balancing kit will help you sort it.

With a little bit of cursing you can get it set up
The cute little sketch on the box that shows you how easy it is to install is laughable because any home improver knows that nothing, and I mean nothing, ever goes like it's supposed to.I mean, you're working blind in a ceiling with a 3.5 to 4 inch hole. In my case, someone saw fit to put insulation in between the attic floor and kitchen ceiling (where this was going) so I also got to wrestle blindly through puffs of insulation trying to find the other joist for it to attach to. Then, you have to get it perfectly vertically level with no visibility (that took a few tries) and horizontally straight. So, yeah, the picture on the box that has you magically installing it easily in one step is funny. Get your swear jar out and plan to spend a bit of time working through the install if you're in a tricky spot. (Which...most people are if they are having to use this to begin with.)Once you get past all that, it is solid and works as described. It gives you a junction box where you should have one and a solid foundation for holding up any kind of ceiling fixture.
