The moment central heating started up for fall, my nails started peeling and breaking, the cuticles became rough and even bled. This is a firm paste more than a cream, a tiny bit goes a long way. It makes the nails shiny when rubbed in, and almost miraculously smoothed the rough cuticles from the moment I put it on, not at all greasy. It also helps smooth the callouses on my hands. It does indeed remind me of the hoof paste I applied to horse hooves in my youth, protective as well as healing. My one reservation, not worth taking a star, is the scent -- it does not much smell like cherry or almond, more like coconut cream.
