Benro GD36PT 3-Way Geared Head

This gearhead is comparable in quality to the most expensive ones available, but at a third of the cost. At the same time it's actually a BETTER solution, because of the ball head. With the Arca-Swiss gearhead, for example, you must invest another$200 for a leveling base. This is INCLUDED in the Benro GD36PT! Ultimately, this system is better, because with most gearheads you must use the "fast" lever to get your approximate alignment, and then use the slow-knobs to fine-tune. This means 3 separate steps. With this Benro, you only need to get close to your setup with the smooth and large ball-head (which has a very good damping mechanism) and then fine-tune the camera with the easy to turn, and very precise-feeling gears. If they are too tight for your taste, Benro includes the necessary Allen-wrenches to quickly set them to your desire. I can easily move the heaviest camera with just my fingers - no need to grab with the whole hand and twist like the devil! All in all a keeper, and suitable for all my cameras, from lightweight digital, to heavy-weight metal 4 x 5 view cameras. You will NOT be disappointed if you're looking for a quality gearhead at a decent price. Get one while they're still in production. Works.so smooth amd has all the adjustments that you'll need for precise adjustments. Expensive but worth it. It is big and works well for large heavy duty tripods, not travel tripods.

very well built but its almost impossble to set a vertical shot. The knob that allows to adjust tilting position while on vertical position bumps with the other knobs making it unbearable... Will buy an L bracket to fix this... but, very dissapointing design flaw
