Not an amazing value
Asus has been doing a bang up job on their keyboard releases the past few years. They are genuinely some of the better put together keyboards from large brands such as Razer, Logitech, Corsair etc. This is the Azoth X, the successor to the original Azoth. I’d say overall the keyboard is pretty nice, but I’m just not seeing the value with this board at all.The unboxing experience is pretty basic but put together well. The keyboard sits on top with individual compartments below it for the cable and accessories.First impression is the build quality leaves a lot to be desired for the price. At 300 dollars this board absolutely should have more metal on the case. It’s just a metal top plate and plastic everywhere else. I understand they use plastic to help with the wireless signal, but there are other wireless boards out there for way less money that use full metal cases and have zero issues with wireless range or interference. On a positive note, the keycaps are beautiful. Dye sublimated keycaps that feel really high quality with really nice frosting on them to bring out the RGB better. The lighting also looks great and can get quite bright. The OLED screen also looks amazing and has really nice definition and smoothness to the animations. The switches are just pretty average for me. They are the NX snow V2 switches which are just regular linear mechanical switches. They are consistently lubed and the stabilizers all seem to be good enough as well. I’m not noticing any rattle from them and they’re also all lubed well. The switches seem to have a slight friction to them but they do feel consistent from key to key. From what I remember the snow V1 switches actually felt smoother overall than these ones. Another small complaint I have is the sound profile of the switches and board in general. The board is quite loud, and the switches are deep sounding. Some people may like this, I really don’t. The gasket mount also feels like there isn’t one at all. The board is stiff, it kind of reminds me of the GMMK pro. The switches are light feeling and tend to feel responsive in game. The performance of this board is good overall, but obviously Hall effect keyboards have become extremely popular the past couple of years, and for the price you would really expect Asus to have Hall effect switches here in their gaming focused keyboard, or at the very least support Hall effect switches for the hot swap like the GMMK 3 HE does. The board supports 1000hz out of the box and can go to 8000hz with the polling rate booster which is sold separately. For 300 dollars it would be nice to get that in the box. Board feels good in game overall and does support its own version of SOCD. Most games have it banned but it’s nice to have the option. It’s just tough to recommend this keyboard when there are so many options out there that are significantly cheaper. There are keyboards with better build quality and better switches for nearly half the price. The value here is the wireless performance and amazing keycaps that can’t be bought anywhere else at the moment. If you’re a hardcore Asus fan, you’ll probably like this board. If you’re looking to get good value, it’s definitely not here. The build should be better and the switches are just average for the extremely high asking price.

If you have original AZOTH, might not be worth
I have the original Asus Azoth 75% and it is hands down the best keyboard i used in awhile. Has everything , snow switches are amazing and all. I figured this new keyboard would of had great improvement but it actually does not. The keyboard feels like they used plastic maybe to reduce weight for as the original Azoth is kind of heavy. They key caps feel a little to raised and kind of hinder quick movements while gaming. Dont get me wrong they are still amazing caps. The switches on the other hand are the new v2 snow switches, and coming from the original i dont know if they hit the spot. They feel like just a lighter version i might same from the original meaning yes you can press the keys easier. I think the problem is the key caps are to high. If they used the original key caps probably would of been the best keyboard out there. Im going to test by putting the original key caps on this keyboard. All in all still has the OLED and all the same features. I just dont think they really didnt any amazing improvements if you have the original Azoth. Not sure if 300$ is the right price point for this keyboard
