This is a fun little plane with some great tricks up its sleeve.
I wrote a more comprehensive review at nothingnormal net with video demos- but suffice it to say this is a lot of fun. There are 3 important modes:1. Hover: This is your start if you want to VTOL. This is strongly effected by wind, so best to fly in low or no wind conditions and orient so the nose will be facing into the wind. I bought this to assess hovering with a 2 prop plane instead of a quadcopter. It proved not to be the solution for my project but is still fun to fly anyway.2. Constrained flight: I typically switch to this while hovering and it basically changes it to plane mode but includes the constraint that it will keep the bottom oriented toward the ground. This means no loops or barrel rolls and is a great way to learn to fly with automatic control.3. "3D flight"- this is the 3rd switch position and disables all constraints. I've been enjoying playing with this one once I get high enough that there is nothing to crash into- do some stunts and then switch back to constrained flight mode before crashing... it's tricky but fun/terrifying. I would definitely crash most of the time if I didn't switch back. I've been improving a lot with more practice. If you master this "3d" flight mode you'll be ready to stunt fly most other planes, and you can probably achieve either of the other modes including hovering just by manouvering the proper control surfaces. I've had some serious crashes- including breaking the nose off completely and it flies both without the whole nose/cockpit about the same, and with the foam parts glued back on (via E6000). I've also added a tiny runcam with success. You'll likely break the props soon enough- replacements seemed hard to find so I just picked up a 16 pack of 5" props from Raycorp- they have the right length and hole diameter but no flats and a higher pitch. You can torque them enough to not need the shaft flats and I turned down about .06" of thickness to get them secure on the x520 but they seem to work well and I have a whole bag of them now delivered next day. The only complaint I really have is the fail mode when trying to VTOL is that it just falls over on the ground and continues whacking the props against whatever's nearby- struggling for way too long before giving up. Seems like this should be an easy and obvious firmware update when you're in hover mode and it falls over 90 degress- why does that take so long to detect? Anyway, still an unexpectedly fun plan to fly that I keep finding myself returning to just for practice and enjoyment.

This plane is for flyers with experience!
This airplane can really cut through the sky. It needs to. Even though it has computer flight management it can get away from an inexperienced pilot. The radio binding and flying instructions are vague. No mention of how to vertically land this bird.Even at 80% control response, it is over reactive to control movements when flying in 6 channel more. I changed the aileron pushods positions on the horns to reduce the throw. An experienced pilot will have a lot of fun with this toy!!

Do not buy third-party products only prime products
The one I got when I first flew it my first flight was about 30 seconds flew pretty good and all the sudden goes haywire and crashes The return process was easy Amazon made it pretty simple to get a refund for the product

So Fun!
My 12 year old loves RC airplanes but "I" love this one. It's such a zippy plane and so easy to fly... I want to take over the controls every time he plays with it!

Very durable and really fun to fly.
This glider is really fun to fly. I been flying 6ch helicopters and after flying X520 I have been selling my helicopters. I now own three X520 gliders. Good for the beginner and the expert.
