Ordered the Winter Rye to throw on the now bare and torn up lawn-the rye is now about an inch high, and should continue through MId Spring, at which time, i plan to resod area adjacent to new walkway and porch. The stuff was not cheap, but it does work, and if you have lawn torn up in late Fall or early Winter, the Winter Rye is the best for getting the ground covered and for holding the soil from washing away. Another use is for helping replenish your garden's nutrients by planting rye in Fall and then plowing or hoeing it all in before planting garden the next year.
