Rivals Philips with Some Extra Perks
My first sunrise alarm was a BioBrite, which was little more than a 60-watt dimmer bulb and a buzzer. It finally bit the dust, but I couldn't deal with going back to a clock radio and waking up in the dark again. My wish list: A full, gradual sunrise/sunset experience; no apps needed (I'm trying to get my phone out of my bedroom, not pull it in); and some pleasant sounds would be nice too. I tried the Philips SmartSleep 3520, but ultimately chose the Lumie Glow as it seems I've got it all (and more) in one nice, tidy clock at a decent price. Some highlights for me: 1. It is a lot smaller than I expected based on the product photos, but that's cool because it takes up only a fraction of my nightstand real estate that my old BioBrite did. The cord is pretty long too, so I can move it around where I like. (See photo of it compared to the much larger Philips.) 2. The settings are super simple, IMO. To set it to 12-hour time, unplug it, hold down the alarm, minus, and sunset buttons (I did it with one hand), and plug it in. It will flash some dashes and ask you to choose 12 or 24. Setting the alarm, sunset and time are just a matter of following some normal prompts. (Read the booklet). 3. The light itself is true sunrise/sunset "curve technology" and starts super low, so you are getting that therapeutic affect that will wake you up slowly or let you drift off peacefully. You can choose sounds for both, but you don't have to. There is also a nice night light function if you need it. And it's plenty bright enough to read by. Sweet. (The Philips light is nice too, but it didn't have the depth of color, IMO.) 4. The 10 sounds are amazingly clear, deep and non-looped (so they don't get annoying). I tend to choose the Blackbirds for waking and the Tropical Birds for sunset. I have found that by using the sunset feature with sound, I am doing more reading at night instead of scrolling, so I'm falling asleep more easily. To hear all the sounds, go to the Lumie site, pull up your model and they have a full sound bar for you to sample. The baby goats are a hoot! 5. The little dome is rigged for a light tap to turn on the display for 5 seconds in a dark room to read the time, and also to work the 9-minute snooze feature. Clever. And there is NO flicker with this light at any level. (There is with the Philips.) 6. My results: Waking up to this light is gentle, reliable and pleasant, a big step up from the BioBrite, plus the added sounds are like extra insurance that you will get up. I discovered too, that if for some reason you don't want to wake up to the light, you can set the level in the alarm at 0 and just use the sounds. Overall, this clock may be small (perfect for travel), but it's mighty in its looks, capabilities, and ease of use. The Philips is nice, lots of features, but the size and that flicker tipped the scales in Glow's favor for me. Enjoy the video/photos, and sleep well, whatever you choose!

Get it
Love this clock! I wake up at 5am sometimes 4 am for work, this definitely helps me wake up less groggy

❤️
Bottom line: I love this alarm clock and I hope the same is available if I ever need to buy another. PROS 1- I found setting up the clock to be relatively easy and, more importantly, I found the instructions easy to remember. (One alarm clock I purchased and returned had ridiculous, Rube Goldberg-like, instructions and I was late to work many times due to the alarm not being set correctly.) 2- The sounds available for the alarm are better than I have found elsewhere. (Though I do not know who thought goats would be good option?) I like their version of the standard alarm beep, the cafe din, and the birds. 3- I love a 24-hour alarm clock; you never have to worry about accidentally setting the alarm for PM instead of AM. Very happy with this feature. 4- I love (LOVE! ❤️) that the display shuts off completely when the room is dark. CONS 1- It does feel and look cheaply made, but it serves its purpose. 2- I do not like that the light does not shut-off once you turn off the alarm, you have to dim it manually. (Supposedly, the light is to turn off automatically after 90 minutes, but mine does not.) 3- I would have liked to be able to program the sunset feature to begin every evening.

Great sunset feature!
I am really impressed with the Lumie Bodyclock glow Pros I was looking for an alarm clock that had a sunset feature as that is what I use primarily use. The ability to choose different timings and brightness levels is really great! I think the range of sound is more than enough and they were of acceptable quality. The sunrise alarm is as expected. I basically get up at the same time each morning…so the lack of multiple alarms was not an issue for me. Personally I found this clock rather easy to set using the manual. I also love the automatic display darkening feature. The lamp itself looks great! It’s well made and feels sturdy. The previous lamp brand I had years ago was pretty unsightly and I was worried about the aesthetics of the Lumie but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The cons - The alarm button. To see the display at night you must push a button…sometimes this button might be your alarm which you have now turned off! -Additionally I have found that when the sunset simulation is running an alarm press does not turn on the alarm ( you must switch it off, activate the alarm and then activate the sunset feature ). I am not a big fan of this as a whole. -I will echo that the lamp is a bit dimmer than I thought it would be. This is not a problem for me, I wake up to any light, but may be a consideration for others For me the pros far outweigh the cons of this lamp. I would encourage anyone who needs a good looking sunset/sunrise simulation alarm to purchase.

Overpriced alarm clock
It’s not really worth the price. Not great as an alarm clock, not lots of options. The light is cool but I don’t think it’s worth it.
