Amazing little filter
Despite all the negative reviews I’ve seen for this product i absolutely love it the flow isn’t too strong and that’s perfect for my betta ide just recommend to add some filter floss into the front of it to stop the fish from swimming inside it (learned the hard way but the fish is completely fine and still alive) i personally submerge this filter down into my tank tho so maybe that’s why it’s working differently for me but i absolutely love this filter and i personally would highly recommend it as I’ve now purchased this twice and im about to buy another for my 20 gallon to give it a little extra flow

Quiet, efficient and works with cut-to-size media.
Purchased to supplement the filtration on my 10-gallon, planted, Fluval Flex, betta tank, and it does the job magnificently! Accepts my cut to size filter media as well, is very quiet and the water outflow rate is not too severe as to disturb the betta.

Worse than having no filter. DO NOT BUY.
I bought this for a 1.5 gallon tank. Installed, ran it for a week, added conditioner to the water and everything appeared to be working great. The water was clean, the pump was running quietly and had a pretty good suction for its size. Then I added 5 small blue velvet shrimp to the tank. Very small, couldnt even see their waste yet and they had live plants to feed on. Its been 6 days now and 4 of the 5 shrimp have died, the water is murky with a green tinge and there are black and brown bacterial or fungal blooms popping up here and there. The first shrimp died after 3 days, it took no time at all for the tank to begin to gunk up. I have never seen his before, but upon removing the pump it is filled with sludge and god knows what else. I should also note that the filters themselves dont seat very well inside the pump, its practically free-floating in there. So this thing is going in the trash and I will stick with weekly partial water changes, maybe the last shrimp will survive. DO NOT BUY! Id also like to add that the shrimp are very strong swimmers but its lucky they dont have fins, otherwise Im sure they wouldve gotten stuck inside the vents right away. IF this thing worked it would be terrible for betas with long flowing fins. Take my advice and just flush 9.99 down your toilet to equal the value of the pump + 38.99 for the shrimp in my case. I have kept these shrimp before and they are hardy as hell and not easy to kill. But this water is absolutely disgusting after only 6 days.....

Decent filter
Works really well for smaller tanks! Only downside is you have to clean it ALOT or just keep your tank really clean otherwise it will clog and not work.. it definitely last a long time, been using it for over a few months now!

Great at Clearing Debris and Keeping Tanks Clean
I got this for me and my grandma's fish tanks. We both have fine sand as our substrate, which is disturbed easily and makes our tanks look dirtier than it actually is. Our fishes poop a lot so that unsightly sediment is always visible on top of the substrate. After adding this simple filter to our tanks, all the debris cleared up and our tanks actually looks crystal clear. For the filter cartridges, you can purchase the ones designed for this filter, or you can do what I do and just insert a piece of mesh filter that you can buy in giant rolls. It catches all the debris and you can just replace them when they get too dirty. This filter is super easy to clean too. You just take out the components and wipe them down with a sponge. Access to the motor is super easy as well since there is a removable plastic that you can take off to maintain the motor.I use this along with a sponge filter and I would highly recommend this filter for tanks with fine substrate.
