Is it me or do I bear witness to a new trend occurring? Box stores are not stocking items like this in multiple colors, its all special order. Yeah I can do that and cut out the middle man and higher price point. Good quality it is plastic so I hope they will last longer than the pot metal type I am replacing. The brown/ bronze color is darker than I would like but... Fit, form and function is as expected.

Well made. Would be easier to mount if the flaps stayed open when opened. Little harder to mount when you have to hold both covers open when doing so. Not a big deal but tougher for an old man like me.

Good replacement option

I was very pleased to discover *after* I ordered this, the plate is made of metal - thus replacing the original plastic one we had that, not surprisingly, the hinges cracked and broke after 20 years baking in desert sun. I’m glad this one is built to last.It came with weatherproofing insulation that we didn’t use because the old insulation seems just fine so we’ll just hold onto the foam for now.Installation is simple provided your old plate is held in place by the center screw. We didn’t replace it with the new screw and noticed we couldn’t make it tight (perhaps the center hole is partially stripped so be sure to check yours) - in our case, the plate still fit snug so I think it will be fine.Other than that, if we need to replace the one in the front of the house (not hit by sun so prolly not), we’ll definitely get another one!

Arrived quickly. Installed in less than 5 mins. Bronze color matches my door hardware perfectly.

All parts included, functional, gasket is proper thickness and adjustable to different receptacles.
