Do you have to plaster over top of this repair, or is this material water proof?

I’m assuming the compound used to seal the crack prior to injecting the expandable foam is waterproof but I’m not certain. Always best to check with the manufacturer. I chipped it off after a few days and applied a bright white plaster to the repair. Feather the edges with a damp brush to blend the patch. I had a 5ft crack starting at the pool edge into my deep end. It was 3/8” wide at the top to hairline at the bottom. Haven’t had any leaks since.

Can this displace water from an actively leaking crack when water is infiltrating from ground water outside of the pool?

Yes, because this product is hydrophobic (meaning that it activates with moisture).

Pretty ugly outcome for something so expensive

Despite trying to cover the whole crack with the epoxy, I still had micro-cracks I couldn't see and the foam came out, which stains the pebletec yellow. There are pits in the finish, because it's really hard to get the epoxy smooth on the inside. I might have been able to pay a pro to do a fix for not much more and it would have looked way better.
